Found out the other day that one of my fosters has discospondylosis. So sad. Vet says she has probably 6 months to live. I feel so bad for her. Before I got her the former owner kept both sisters in a run of about 10 x 10. Rarely let them out, and didn't socialize them at all. Now she and her sister get the run of 3 whole acres and get to socialize with all sorts of buddies. When I got them they were scared all the time and very lethargic. Now,since being with me since July, they are happy all the time with no sign of nerves and get tons and tons of exercise. When I seen them smile it makes me feel so good inside, yet also so sad that she will soon be gone.

Found out yesterday that the adopter of Chase and Chance cannot pick them up for a couple weeks. However, the day before that I came home from school and found Chase in the kitchen floor and unable to move. She had lost her bowels and bladder in the living room and then dragged herself to the kitchen and that's as far as she got. Took her to the vet and he said she had increased pressure on her spinal cord and that there was nothing to be done but give her a couple shots that would help decrease the inflammation of the cord. That was 2 days ago and she now has almost no function in both her rear legs and so has to drag herself around and skin her knees up in the process. It is so, so terribly sad to see. She is still in good spirits and still tries to chase the cat and go to the room that we are all in. Wish I could do more for her.

Can you try making her the equivalent of a doggie-wheelchair? I have seen them used with some success. not a long-term solution, unfortunately, but might give her some freedom of movement for the time being and reduce any injuries to her knees. You could probably "google" some ideas on how to make one.

Phil, so sad to hear!
You have done all for her and maybe this is the time to let her go. This is not a life for a Irish who loves to run free and now not able to walk. Maybe this sounds very hard, but probably the best for her right now.

All the best and Good Luck, Kristina
