Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World
Thank you to those who have welcomed me to Exclusively Setters. I look forward to enjoying the site and interacting with others who also have the pleasure of owning a delightful Irish Setter.
I have had six Setters over the last 37 years (Roy, Kelly, Missy, Jessie, Jessie and Flame). During Jessie's time we discovered another Irish at the local pound who we adopted, but her name was Jessie as well. Apparently she had been on the streets for a month before we found her at the pound. Poor baby wasn't in great shape. We kept her name because we felt she had experienced enough change in her life. Although it was mostly convenient having two dogs with the same name, it did create some confusion occasionally. In the mix, we also had a Jack Russell X who adopted us. He was as equally delightful as our Setters.
OUr current Setter, Flame, is a former show dog who was retired from the show ring with Australian Champion status. I think she is relishing the less demanding life of retirement, especially her trips to the beach which is close by. We've just discovered that she loves carrots.
Welcome aboard, John. Lovely to have such caring people in our breed, reading about poor Jessie.Sounds like she has certainly fallen on her feet in your household. Best Wishes, Myra.
