As a 3 year old
Staying at my house for a few weeks as an 8 year old
A very young Oliver
October 2009 12 years old - in his 'castrated coat'
Today is a sad day as we suddenly had to say goodbye to Oliver. He was the last surviving dog from the first litter I bred and was the last litter sired by the lovely Sh Ch Kerryfair Lover Boy and his dam was my Lynwood Castaspell Over Polmennor. Although he did some winning as a puppy and had some Best of Breeds at open shows we stopped showing him at 5 years old as he really didn't like it, in character and temperament he was so much like his sister Polmennor Sweet Dreams but they did not look anything alike. Those two were born 3rd and 4th and we called them the terrible twins. We did some basic training for gundogs in the early days and he was the clown of every class. One day when I sent him 'away' he ran through two open doors and was gone for nearly 30 minutes and when he returned 9 people formed a chain across the road to catch him and he ran through all of us without even slowing down and on another occasion he scaled a 6 foot wall and was charging full pelt around a cemetery. Those of you who have dogs in the terrible teen years ain't seen nothing. He only became totally obedient when he got to 11 years old as his legs just couldn't go so fast as he wanted them to anymore. Today he is a free spirit and can run forever without ever having to come back.
Oliver was my Mum's dog and was her devoted companion for nearly 13 years, he came to visit regularly but today he has returned back home to his birthplace and will be buried alongside his mother and sister. Rest in Peace Oliver, you led a full and happy life and you leave a huge gap in all of our lives.
