Setters & Pointers Training Day
It was a very friendly Group of Setter and Pointer Owners who gathered at Hamptworth Estate, Wiltshire over this last weekend.
This event was organised by the Hampshire Gundog Society with two Trainers, both whom are successful Field Trialist, namely Nicky Ackerley Kemp of the Yennadon Gordon Setters and Terry Harris of the Sparkfield Pointers.
The Society had even managed to get the weather to perform with sunshine from dawn to late afternoon. The venue is a very large Estate about 15 miles from Southampton and has it's own website.
There were about 15 owners and a good mixture of Gordon Setters, Irish Red Setters, Pointers and my boy, Ray, a Irish Red & White Setter.
We were given demonstrations and good constructive advice how to train our setters and pointers to work in the fields and how to get them up to Field Trial standard. After these demonstrations we then 'worked' our dogs in the two fields allocated to our group(s) for the day.
I was pleased that I was able to meet up with Catherine who kindly took a good number of photographs for me when I was quartering Ray.

It was a really worthwhile day ( quite tiring though!) but I loved being allowed to follow on and take some of the photos! Well done, Pat! Ray did really well!
