Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World
We are back to where we've been twice before and can now lock outside and enjoy the beautiful weather from the sofa. Since her small accident last Autumn (one nail got caught in the frame of our garden door; all healed properly), one part of Joy's paw seems to be stil more dry and prone to tears, especially in cold weather or when absorbed in play and turning on her backhand. Itchy as a small and near unseen tear is, she did most of the damage herself by biting part of the sole off in the middle of the night. I caught her at it but the damage was already done!
This time she was in pain the next day and I went to the vet to rule out the possibility of a foreign matter or of being fungal. They said it's all ok and I just have to keep up the good care, so I bought her new shoes, because the old ones did not last all our wear and tear and I will try now with a different creme to keep that sole soft and flexible. I know that the Setter will soon run over the fields again with a shoe but the vet advised to keep the amout of k's down for the time being - so we're in for a relaxed weekend.
I just wanted to let you know, in case you wondered, where we are on our tour through Switzerland...
Oh, arme Joy! wir wünschen Gute Besserung und eine schnelle Genesung damit ihr die Tour de Suisse bald fortsetzen könnt.
Liebe Grüsse aus dem Schnee
Sorry to hear that Joy is hurt I hope it will mend quickly I love the shoe I bet it's funny watching her walk with it on our lot lift their feet up like there's a huge weight on their feet.We tried socks to keep the affies feet dry when they're going to a show it turned out easier to carry them to the ring, funny though watching them walk
cheers Peter
