Exclusively Setters

Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

Went in the shopping centre today and saw 2 Irish Setter puppies, apparently a breeder sold them and gave them papers etc!  And guess what? At the same pet store that Ruby was from!!!

If you want to stop puppy farms you have to stop pet shops from selling dogs they will sell to anyone who pays no screening at all. I think selling puppies from a store is not allowed in Victoria clearly it is not a national rule. If you can get the breeders name report them to Dogs NSW . Let everyone on this site know the breeders/prefix name, I'll gladly write to Dogs NSW . If the ANKC are serious about puppy farming here is their chance to stop at least one .
as you are most likely aware most pet shops in Sydney sell pups some x-breeds and also pure breeds. The chain of petshops that have these are less than o.k. When I worked in Chatswood I would look and sometimes go into the shop and ask questions. I am sure you could write to Dogs NSW. Like I said in this forum where I live they advertise pups that are coming weeks before. The whole situation makes me less than happy.
The breeder has reduced the price from $700 to $350, Looks like she is in a rush to sell them...
i noticed that when I checked the site this morning. I thought I had misread the amount. Yes they would be trying to push the sale.

I just sent her an email.

I asked how old were the puppies? Are you a registered breeder etc.

See if she will reply..

Found the breeder's full name and address.

A breeder that bred the male and sold him to Poppy is not happy and is trying to contact her but she isn't answering...

yes she would be furious... how did u find out
My friend who is an IS breeder contacted a breeder and asked, not too sure..

Hi Krista,

I have also sent an email asking how old the pups are and about the parents. I allowed a lady to use my kennel prefix about 2 years ago to breed my dog to her bitch. I kept a lovely bitch but have since found out that most of the puppies' papers didn't go with them. I am trying to find out if it is one of my boys' babies who has been bred.

I have actually used the pups4sale site and have had some good results. Of course it is the same with all my advertising. They know I am a registered breeder etc. etc. and I still screen all puppy buyers.

Is this woman really interested in the breed? Is she just looking to make some money, because after 30 years I never have. Or does she just need some advice and help? A large litter, and it looks like there was quite a few of them, can be a bit overwhelming.

Carmel

Hi Carmel,

I know who the breeder's are, I will send you a private message :)

Looks like she is just in it for the money, apparently the breeder of the father is not happy and she did not permit her to use him at stud...

Hi All

This is just so sad. I can see why some breeders are using limited register or de sexing pups at such a young age. Unfortunately these puppy factories will keep on when people think they are getting a bargain when In actual fact they are possibly buying a lot of heart ache with the pup having health problems as these breeders don't do any health/ genetic testing. Its just an unforgivable practice and makes you sick. We should not patronise the shops in any fashion and get the word out about this to friends with facts. My heart goes out to these poor pups, its awful.

Cheers

I know who the breeders of the mum and dad are.

The mum may be my Irish Rufus' sister!
