Do I have the only dog that refuses to eat red meat?!?!?!?!

As some of you will know from previous posts, Darcey, our IS, is the fussiest dog ever!

We feed her on the BARF diet but she refuses point blank to eat red meat! She loves chicken, tripe and fish but if there's beef, lamb etc in her bowl, she sniffs it, looks at me - whith a look of shear disgust - and walks off! If you them swap it for one of her preferred choices, she then won't eat it on principle!

Because she's such a skinny minnie, I put a spoonful of goose fat in her meal and we always put veg in which has a higher iron count.

However, if you give her a beef bone, she has it completely clean in half an hour!

On the opposite scale, Poppy, our IRWS, eats anything and everything and always has an eye on Darcey's dish! :D

Holly is a fussy eater she is on the barf diet , I know it sounds silly but I flash grill the food for a minute and she will eat it .It is still raw underneath.I also give her apiece of grated cheese then put some in her dish oh the lengths we have to go to to keep them happy.:-)

Unfortunately, Darcey doesn't fall for anything! Her favourite thing is tuna or sardines. I've tried mixing these in and she picks the bits out and leaves the rest.

If she wasn't so skinny, I wouldn't be that bothered but obviously red meat has a much higher fat content than the meats she prefers, hence the goose fat!

I always give in and give her her preferred menu in the end! They make you feel so guilty :)

darcey looks as oberon, no food last for more than 1 week: sometimes it HAS to be chicken or beef and the week after he sniffs  it and looks it suspicious as it was a poison;) oh yes, including red meat... we discovered it is just matter to keep rotating.. sometimes is raw, sometimes is some natural dog food, sometimes is cooked meat.. oh well, nobody believes us  ;)

ps: `whith a look of shear disgust` = I know perfectly well what you mean;) oh dear !!!!!!!!

:D glad you know what I mean Silvia! They're funny little things.

We give our dogs different food everyday, to try and avoid them getting sick of any one type but HRH has none of it!

My Kerry is also a skinny minnie and feeding him is a whole past time in itself. He will only eat chicken wings raw. No bones, roo meat or any red meat. Happily eats it cooked, never raw. I use lamb flaps (for the fat) pan fried with other things and parsley lightly sprinkled on the top. Joking about the parsley but some times I feel I am his personal Chef attending his preferred menu which changes every 3 weeks. I have tried tough love but he is more stubborn than I and he can not afford to loose to much weight. His litter brother is the complete opposite, more like the shark from "Jaws" when it comes to food.

And "The Look" he could be a top model who has that 'Really what were you thinking" look.

I think Darcey thinks she should be in Buckingham Palace not out humble abode!!! :)

Or perhaps meals should be sent over from Buckingham Palace packed beautifully with her name on it.
