Splash the one with the white front also has white toes a white streak (Just visible) through head white graining through coat and to finish off a white tail tip so are the two breeds of lrish seperate.?? or is it just breeding solid red to red that has diluted the white.....

June, it may be somewhat heretical to say this on this forum, but I have long held that the IRWS & the Irish Setter are genetically the same breed. BUT I would not hold my breath too long waiting for the day when the Irish Setter breed standard anywhere states "Colour - red or red & white" with an explanation of the 2 colours. I'll probably get hung for this...LOL!

Well Henk, as the IRWS has a cataract problem & a vWD problem (from what I read & hear - Heaven help me if I'm wrong!) I wouldn't use an IRWS even if the world changed & the Irish Setter ended up as one breed, 2 colours. Too much change from the old lines in both. I don't for a moment think this will happen in 2 lifetimes LOL! Cataracts & vWD I can do without, thanks. The ones out here weren't the best of temperaments either.
