"I agree...I think hormones are playing a part and you need to assert your authority, in a calm manner.  Try a Dogmatic head collar as it works a treat and does not ride up like a gentle leader can.  Neutering won't help.  "

Winter Coats

It's only November and I'm already having to give Rigsby a bath every time we go out so I'm thinking of getting him an all in one suit to keep him clean and dry.  I bought him a Cosipet onesie to keep him clean while at a show but it's not suitable for what I want it for, so I've done some research and come across a range called Hurtta.  They do two, one they specifically recommend for long coated breeds, but they are VERY expensive.    Does anyone else use these coats and what do you think of…See More

Congratulations on your clear pra_rcd4 result, what breeding is Rigsby?

Sorry Lesley I didn't make myself very clear.  What I meant was who is the sire and dam of Rigsby?  Good that you are waiting until he is a bit more mature, a lot of people who are new to showing get their puppy in the ring at 6 months, are up against experienced people and then stop showing as they are disheartened that they are not winning just when the puppy is starting to mature and get the hang of it.  Good luck

I believe you were also asking about trimming.  When I started the breeder of my dog showed me what to do and let me practice on her dogs (the ones who wasn't going in the ring for a while)!  Also there is a good DVD about trimming that Dee Milligan-Bott has produced and some pictures and advice in the book written by Eve Gardner all of which might help
