I agree with Gennadi, Camilla and Susan, the time will pass. For now you need to protect him so that he is not hurt and he is not affected temperament wise. My suggestion is to try to exersize Alfie at a time or in a place where you avoid dogs tha...

Just have to agree with Gennadi, take it slow and calm and do not go on to hormons and thingies!!

Don't worry it will be ok soon. The body language of most young dogs is not allright yet and older dogs want to punish them. Its ok with kenneled dogs since young dogs know how to react to older and @-dogs.

I agree with what Fran says about the high levels of testosterone possibly being behind the behaviour of the other males. For one thing it has been shown that young males go through a testosterone 'surge' which indicates that they are no longer ha...

This is a fairly common issue which has been presented to us in our behaviour clinic over the years. Although your dog may be laid back and happy go lucky, some males do produce very high leves of testosterone which other entire males perceive as ...

In my experience it doesn't get better if they are around different dogs all the time. That was why I had neutered my last dog and will again with my new puppy. At our dog park for some reason anytime an intact male comes in some males love them, ...

All the irish setters named Alfie are destined to be handsome, fun loving and spolit rotten!
Your Alfie looks so handsome already, lovely area for walking the dogs too.

Hi,

The beach is in Cornwall. It's a little place called Daymer Bay, it's close to Rock/Padstow, don't know whether you have heard of it.

The beach is great, when the tide is out you can walk from Daymer all the way round to Rock, then you can walk back through the sand dunes to dry them off. There is no restrictions to taking the dogs on the beach like others, you can use it all year round.

I am going back again next April....can't wait.

Regards
Julie

Hi again Amanda and Co! Wow you must be busy with your two puppies and cats and a family! Lovely though, your Holly sounds just like my last dog Torin, he was always on the go and was very high energy too, I was broken hearted when I lost him at 4 but much happier again now I have Blake and yes I think he will be a big boy!

Hi Amanda,
Pleased to hear Alfie doing so well, he looks so adorable! Blake very laid back too and certainly enjoys his sleep! Sometimes I am up before him in the mornings so making the most of it in case it doesn't last. Your other dog Holly looks lovely, how old is she ?

Hi Amanda, thanks for your comments and glad you like Blake! Yours is gorgeous too, so lovely! How are things going for you ? Absolutely thrilled with mine and can't wait to start taking him out into the big world as he has another 2 weeks to go before he is clear to go out yet.
