For the first Field Trial organised by our breed club, Fletcher of McBirdy pulled it off !
He won the first place with the qualification 'VERY GOOD !
14 dogs were engaged: some from The Netherland, some from France and of course from Belgium.
After training days, it was the great day !
Weather was fine and phesants seem not to be so clever than in Switzerland (see Susan's blog) !
I must say that Fetcher surprised me. In fact, I pulled out the Joker (the last place) and in 'Amateurs' competitions, it's a bad one. Your dog has to wait for a long time, seeing others dogs running in the Field. And also, there are a lot of 'hot places' where game are laid down.
But it was a special run for Fletcher.
He started in a speedy way, making good search and braces.
Suddenly, he took emanations and ran on ahead at a hundred meters from me and pointed in a very strong way.
I thought "he is going away" and I ran fastly to him. But he did'nt leave ! He was waiting for me and we can flushed the pheasant.
Fletcher stayed in place, so the judge gave him the point. And he continued in the same way, he found another bird, pointed it and received another point. Wouh !!
The judge finaly give him the first place with the 'VERY GOOD' qualification and confessed he hesitated to give him an excellent.
It was also a good day for our french friends Cathy and Christophe Forster: both their dogs were also qualified.

It's a great achivement for us. We are proud to confirm it's possible to have good results in Field Trial with dogs from show lines. But you have to train earlier, with patience and perseverance.
With this result (and CACIB he obtained on show), he can aspire now to be 'INT.B.CH' (International Beauty Champion'
