Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

Fleetwood Farm's I BELIEVE IN LUV had her puppies New Years Eve into New Years morning! However, only two of the puppies are male, IRISH BEAUTY is about to deliver also, so I'm going to see how many boys are in her litter. If there aren't enough males for the requests ahead of us, then I'll be getting a girl. Either is fine, I was just leaning toward a male. So I'll still have a new addition the last of Feb or first of March! Yippee! What personality differences have you experienced between male and female IS's?

Ha ha Georgina, you're going to get me in trouble! A similiar situation occurred 9yrs ago when my Vet phoned me about 2 Beagle puppies he was trying to home. I walked in to a little brother and sister tumbling over each other and couldn't resist! I still have a bootprint on the seat of my pants from my husband! My sister eventually took the male, Copper, and I kept Penny! Lol. The breeder said with me having 2 females at home already, they could probably brow beat a boy more easily! Lol We're all excited with whichever the IS stork brings us!

Congratulations Kimberly on the arrival of the setter pups, lucky you. I have the two girls and one boy honestly they still have those traits that make me so love setters, Fun, cheeky, mad, naughty and they all love life no matter what gender you choose you will be smitten. All the best with your new addition, can't wait to see a photo. Take care.

Kimberley, I started with a boy , my first Irish, Rufus in 1982......I ended up keeping 6 Irish boys at one time until I got Anna in 2000. At the moment I have three Irish, two of Anna' pups, Roger and Kim who are now 7 and Venus who is 2. So , whatI can say is that they all have a different personality and I think you will have a lot of fun with whatever sex you end up with! Venus is my number 12 without counting the pups I bred and I could not see my life without my Reds around!:-)

Hi Kimberley, I started with the love of my life, a boy called Danny. He is a big joker, a true mummys boy and a big girls blouse :-). Kerry then joined us, a naughty little madam, manipulative and knew how to get her own way with those big beautiful dark eyes. Her sister Tara followed one year later and a gentle loving girl she was, although again a clever little lady who knew how to wrap me around her little paw. I currently have three boys who I adore. All of them are playful jokers who love cuddles and are the gentlest dogs I know. The girls are greater in number in my home and although I find them slightly more independant than the boys they still adore cuddles from their human slaves and provide us all with lots of laughter at some of the things they do. One thing I can guarantee is regardless of whether it is a boy or girl you get these wonderful dogs will provide you with years of love and fun. Just enjoy and let fate decide whether a boy or girl joins your family either way I promise you that there will be no disappointments.

Thank you Joanne, I believe I'll get the one that's meant to come to us also! I cant believe how excited I am, I'm sure that reading all of the posts on ES and seeing the manic adoration you all have for your special ones has something to do with it! lol I dont know if it's because I have two older girls currently, that I dont want them to feel replaced.....? But I keep telling them that they're going to have a new baby to play with! haha

Hi Kimberly, your right everyone is excited:)) Ruby and Poppy turned two on Monday the 7th January and the breeder sent me more litter photos of the girls litter. They are such adorable puppy's (all puppy's are I guess). Can't wait to see yours. :))

I'm sure you will be delighted with either male or female;o)) I do adore my only male, Milo, but I do find my girls(all 4) generally easier to live with and to train;o))) My girls are also easy when in heat!! Maybe its just my lines?;o)))

Best of luck either way;o)
