Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

I added this on the group Irish Setter Rescue, but there aren't that many members so I'm adding my first blog post in the hope of publicising these setters in need of help. I'm saddened to see so many setters need to be re-homed, as this rescue organisation has had several in the last few weeks, I believe all brought over to the UK from Ireland.

Here's my original posting:

****
I receive emails from Black Retriever X Rescue (UK), and they have several setters available for re-homing just now. Most
of the dogs they re-home are brought across from Ireland, where many healthy dogs are destroyed each year.

The setters currently available include the beautiful English Setter, Bracken, two "almost Irish" boys, Rua and Mo Chara (Gaelic for ‘my friend’), and an English cross Collie, called Happy, who had a very bad start in life.

For more information please see the website at:
http://www.blackretrieverx.co.uk/Black_Retriever_X_Rescue/Dogs_for_...

They are also looking for people who are able to foster dogs, usually for 2-4 weeks, and for homecheckers throughout the UK - see:

http://www.blackretrieverx.co.uk/Black_Retriever_X_Rescue/Fostering...

Please note that I have no association with Black Retriever X Rescue, I'm just a recipient of their emails, so any queries should be sent via the "Contact Us" link on their website.

Please contact Jemima via the website if you are able to help in any way, and do keep an eye out on the website as it is very frequently updated.

Just to let you know that Rua and Mo Chara (My Friend), are both pure bred Irish Setters. The white on Mo Chara is not unusual in Irish working bloodlines.

Good Luck from far away. I really hope there are some loving homes out there, for well-deserving rescues.

If anyone comes across a setter needing to be rehomed please contact me. I am the Irish Gordon and Red and White co-ordinater for Ireland. I was informed about an English in a sanctuary but when I tried to help it was refused. Why don't the relevant authorities and sanctuaries let the breed rescue deal with rescues. After all we know exactly what each breed requires and the type of homes they need.
