Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World
Full of Pride breeder Jelle Kooistra reported on my Facebook today the birth of six (out of ten) puppies with shower of hail markings in his kennel in Friesland, the Netherlands. These are Irish seters with white dots on the coat as if a shower of hail has hit them, the only variety in a dogbreed named after the weather.
Especially for that occasion from the archives of the Stichting Oorspronkelijke Setters unique photographs of the most famous shower of hail ever: Hartsbourne Flame, bred my miss Maureen Mc Keever (Derrycarne) from Ireland, owned by mrs Eileen Walker (Hartsbourne) in the UK, end of 40s last century.
Now we are wating for pictures of shower of hails in Friesland!
Amazing news. Looking forward to seeing the new pups.
How about Hailey, Meteor & Comet as names for three of them, Henk!

Thanks for the link, Astrid. James, great names :-) maybe it inspires the breeder. Like Rhonda I find it amazing that shower of hails keep diving up that's why this report on a new episode in breeds most misty story over centuries so our own legend. Flame is behind ALL lines, show to field.

You welcome, Catherine. The pics were made by a Dutch baroness visiting the Hartsbourne kennels of mrs Eileen Walker. It took around four decades before the first pic of Flame was published.
The latest showers are from predominantly showstrains UK (87.5%)
Yes, Viv, it will be interesting to see if showers of hail stay or (like nearly all) fade away. My observations in litters with a lot of white in the past are like yours varying from only a few white hairs to some that kept an always over time smaller blazes and white star, chin, feet and top of tail.
