How many Irish Setters do you have?

How long have you owned Irish Setters?
Ginger was our first setter. Now I am the proud owner of Pallas Green Kells and Pallas Green Gina.
About Me:
Hi,

my name is Astrid and I am the proud owner of two Irish setters. My first setter was Ginger Obvious Red and she was born on may the 29th 2002. Unfortunately, Ginger was not a healthy dog, she was an epileptic and had MO.
She passed away on the 24th of july 2010. Her memoriam is on:
http://www.hooley-irish-setters.co.uk/menu/in-memory/ginger-obvious...

Since may 15th 2011 we are the proud owners of Pallas Green Kells. Kells was born on November 26th 2009 and she is a working setter. After Ginger I made the decision that I never wanted a setter from show lines again. We are very happy that we could have Kells. She is the joy of my life!

Since 29-7-2012 we have two Irish in the house. Kells her mother will live with us and enjoy her retirement.

In October 2012 my kennel name was registered. The goal of the Ceanannas kennel is to breed healthy Irish that are capable to work.

Two months ago we thought we were at the end of the road. In 3 weeks she had two times a status epilepticus. We decided that if she would have another one we would let her go. The specialist added a fourth drug and she is doing well on it. Today we celebrated her birthday. I didn't make a birthday cake but a birthday dinner for her. At the bottom there is some rice with Greek style yoghurt. The topping is fresh raw salmon and some slices of banana. There are also two small raw… Continue

Hi there Astrid
This site is one of the more addictive things in my life at the moment, be warned you will be at your computer most of the day, I have to 'ration' myself to a couple of 1hour bouts a day, doesn't work though, but you will enjoy it.
Do have a good weekend, we are off to a show tomorrow, I should be bathing the girls at the moment, but I am here instead, ah well, I will probably showing Sheep tomorrow, they will be very fluffy.
Hope to speak soon Dee and the girls

Hi Astrid,
I have read what I could about your Ginger and have an enormous respect for you and her. It hurts to see what you are both going through.
In a litter I bred in 2000 two dogs suffered from epilepsy. I know this is one of the worst illnesses for the owner to experience.
wishing you and Ginger all the very best

Hello Astrid,
yes I agree - and I do hope the Finnish study throws light on this dreadful disease. Is there anywhere (website - in english please!) I can go for further information about the finnish project? Fromwhat I heard certain breeds in Switzerland are also working together with Finland but nothing doing on the setter front as far as I know...
All the best

Thank you Astrid!
It worked surprisingly well and I could understand most of what is written. Are the people doing the research in Finland still needing blood tests of affected and unaffacted dogs do you know?
