Well with shows, there is always the next one...
I am not to keen on showing, its just too much of a lottery to me if you can have one dog winning on saturday and one that was not even placed, winning on sunday. So for me its just the shows I feel I have to to breed from my bitches. Particually as we can not make up a show-champion or gain any official results in the ring in Sweden if your setter is not FT-trained (and has done well there). The french bulldog in that respect is more fun, at least you can work towards something...but she has to wait a bit.
Her third and final CC for her becoming a champion needs to be taken once she has turned 2 years. And that is not until august this year. So until then, no need to go chasing a CC that will mean nothing. Appart from the personal satisfaction of beating others of course :-)
Got our 3-year-old horse back yesterday from being broken in, so Alexandra tried her out for the first time ever yesterday in our paddock. She was great, so she is riding out today with a friend of hers...so lets just see if she returns walking or still on horseback.
You need to have nerves of steel when you have these fearless daughters...:-)
All went well with the ride out, in fact it was almost TOO good to be true. No shying away from things, no fear of cars, lets see if this lasts...or if Ninja (the 3-year old) suddenly realises that she is out there on the road miles away from her paddock.
I am competing in obedience this sunday with the youngest setter, although I must admit my heart is no longer in it. After all my competing I have somehow lost the desire and am quite happy just to go for long walks with the dogs without the pressure of a compertition booked in. I am also having problems finding three dates for my compertitions (need three first places to make up the official title). All my prior bookings this summer seem to be on dates when there are compertitions about.
Still great weather here and no rain...so no regrowth when it comes to the grazing.
And then I had a small batch of chickens hatched yesterday. 5 new chicks and all in different colours. Have a super day Dee!
hi, hope youre ok. the pups growing well now theyre on mince and meal. ive put collars on them to tell them a part yesterday. And theyre still on thats progress. some litters next day half are usual off.Are you going to blackpool ill miss it with having the pups.
Hi Dee, did you say drycoat no. 27 was about the right size? I'll try and get one sometime soon. Hope your two girls are well and don't mind this crazy wind today!!
Hi Dee
Been busy with the puppies and all the others!! I don't have any grass to cut anymore, my husband is obsessed with block paving!!! I've got some borders around the edges that my dogs dig out all the time so only the really hardy plants survive. Even all my pots on my walls are pulled out too. She even tries to get the plants out of my hanging baskets!!! Aren't setters great!!!! :-)
I had problems getting onto the site before but I'm on now and it's lovely. Well done on your wins recently and getting Jas's Ir Sh Ch title. I'm busy with puppies at the moment but hopefully going to Paignton and Bournemouth and will be out and about towards the end of the year when Pasha regains her coat and the bitch puppy I keep hopefully makes her debut.
Not sure which bitch I am keeping yet but have 7 to choose from but I do have 2 I really like and I love one of the dogs this time but it's not practical for me to keep a dog with all the bitches living in the house. Will post a picture when I have chosen. Take care
I'm sorry about your courgettes and tomatoes! Hopefully you can still safe them somehow?? My wee plants are still in the mini-greenhouse but the cover got blown off (not very sturdy, I have to say!) so I guess it's time I planted things out... The good thing is that it's sunny so don't mind the wind that much at the moment. Will give the coat a try. Tried to wash Busby down with just water after a very muddy walk a couple of days ago but he was not very cooperative! So we'll see what the next proper bath will be like ;-)
hi im just doing this while i wait for my visitors. its pouring here such lovely weather we moan when its hot and moan when its cold.Never mind the pups are warm and thats all that matters at the moment. We had a wet walk this morning though we did get out before it poured.I weighed and wormed the pups thurs and ive just cut claws today. theyre like little daggers, if they catch you.Hope we get some nice weather soon so they can learn to have a play outside.
Hi Dee
The puppies are 10 weeks old now. All the ones that have gone have gone to homes that have all had setters before, very lovely people. The only one that I let go to someone that didn't have setters before came back after 4 days!! Unfortunately she was allergic to her. I'm just waiting for someone coming this afternoon who had to there their dog put down at 14months a few days ago due to auto imune difficiency, very sad.
I've got one boy and two girls to find homes for altogether. I've noticed from of a lot of the websites that advertise them that there always seems to be one boy left at about 12 weeks old. I don't know why people prefer bitches as I find them both great!! Saying that I don't have a boy, only the great dane. Deborah
Yes they did take one of the girls, took them ages to choose, probably because they are all the same!! In the end the puppy chose them, two went to sleep and the one they took just wouldn't leave them alone. I've had lots of people who don't turn up, why do they do that!!! It's very rude. Deborah
Finally some rain...and just as I entered the obedience-ring. Worked well even so. But I never thought that there would be any rain so ended up with out any proper raingear. It was worth getting wet....and now ther grazing will return as well!
I've been very lucky that all my pups have gone to people that have had setters before, they know what they are letting themselves in for!! Barley seems to have decided to show her pups how to pull the washing off the line!!! Something she hasn't done for ages. I'm afraid my daugher's bra bit the dust!!! Ah well will just have buy her a new one before she notices.
Yes, I'll try and remember to flatten the hair! Best to try it out sometime in between shows first, probably ;-) Glad your courgettes are still OK. Shows you how bad the weather was if even a walled garden doesn't protect your veg! More rain on the way tomorrow so will have to get those towels ready for after the walks....
Well I have to say I'm not particularly great with computer things either. Sometimes things just don't work and no matter what you do it still won't work. It can be really frustrating. Hope you'll manage to set it up, though. Wishing you all the best of luck for today and speak to you soon, Nicole & Busby
