Help!! My old boy Blue ,almost 10, has just been diognoised with renal failure and I am told that there is little I can do but watch him lose yet more weight until I decide he can go on no longer!! In himself he is great, still active, eating and wanting walks, all but abit shorter now. I can feel every bone in his body and would love to hear from anyone who has had this and found anyway of making the last months more comfortable. Any help would be great, thanks.

I am so sorry I missed this topic earlier... I am so sorry to hear about your boy. I have not experienced renal failure in my dogs but I really do hope that your little man holds on a lot longer than expected.

Please let us know how he is doing.

Thanks Andrea

Unfortunatly we have an appointment this week with the vet to say goodbye, not fair to a lovely dog to keep him anylonger. He is still so happy and bright but has lost 10kilos and now has only 15% of kidney function left so is starting to become doddery and thing are starting to be painful as his muscle has almost all gone. Will let you know more later.

So sorry to read this, such a sad time for any owner. I lost my blue boy in the summer, he was approaching 10 but went into heart failure, it is so awful when there is nothing you can do for them but that last act of kindness.

Thinking of you.

Thanks for your kind thoughts Sheree, even though we still have 3 english in the house there is a large hole here. Blue was a special boy who will always be remembered.

You really do not expect to lose them at 10, I feel for you too.
