Thanks for the b-day wishes, Chantal. I didn't realize that b-days even showed up on Exclusively setters. Looks like your b-day was a few days ago—hope you had a wonderful day
Yes, I will always be totally in love with our (not-so-little) puppies. Dasher went to his forever home last weekend, and I could't stop crying, fortunately after they left. They are a wonderful family, and totally in love with him. Also, they're about an hour's drive away, so we'll get to stay in touch. Today we went to the vet for 1st rabies shot, and Chuckles was there with his new family. It was a joy to see him, and they all seem very happy. It was a wonderful b-day gift for me.
Not quite sure what you mean but here are there parents and pedigree names, i do have Simba's fifth generation pedigree somewhere but obviously i have not got samson's yet.
Glad to be of some help. I know what you mean about diva breeders i meet a few since purchasing simba (keep you hanging on for a decision for one of there pups and make you feel you are not good enough for there pups) In all fairness i was very lucky with Samson as he was advertised in a local paper and rang on a off chance to see if they still had him, on visiting them they were so took up with simba and me that they wanted us to have him.(someone was let down).Simba was a chance purchase i got made redundant and had a big payout at the time i was doing a lot of deer photography on the quntocks and joked with my partner that it would be nice to have a dog to take with me, she said why not. So she went shopping and i looked on the internet obviously for an Irish and found one that night in Cornwall a bit far to go as i do not drive and my partner hates motorways but it was worth it. So really i was very lucky getting both of them.
Simba was my first dog but i had had experience with setter's as a child. I would like one day to perhaps have a dabble at breeding and i think Samson would make a good stud.
Anyway enough of my rambling on. I wish the best of luck with your search for a pup
We're down to 2 pups, Donder and Checkers, and it gets harder to give them up the longer they are with us. Dasher went to a new home a week from Sunday, and I really felt the loss, and I think Donder and Checkers did too, also my husband Matt. He's in a great home, though, and will be a very special companion for his new family, one of whom went through a liver transplant and wanted a special companion to hang out with and go for walks in the Sonoma County County countryside. Dasher, now Murphy, will be great for this.
We've been working on pottytraining and leash walking with Donder and Checkers, and they're learning. We had a horrible experience on Sunday, though. We had all the dogs out to a little café with outdoor seating, when suddenly I realized Donder was loose and wandering into the street—just as a car rolled up. I yelled in panic and ran for him, but then I saw his head next to a parked car, OK, but Checkers raced down the street as if a banshee were chasing him. He abruptly turned left at the next corner, and when I got up to it, he was sitting about 30 feet down, very frightened. I got down on a knee, held my arms out and called to him in a gentle, encouraging voice, and he gladly ran back to me.
When we got back to the café, we discovered that Ruby, who was attached to Matt's chair, ran in the commotion, dragging the chair into the table, which tipped over, breaking all of the dishes and destroying our lunch and coffee. Ruby ran out into the busy street, but miraculously wasn't hurt. Afterward, we all settled down, but our nerves were frazzled.
Hi Chantal ! many thanks for the well wishes for Legolas, glad you like the picture, it was taken just a few hours after his general anesthetic so he's pretty out of it, it was only today that he seemed more like his usual self. Yes many dvd's on the horizon :) let's hope we haven't driven each other crazy before the two weeks are over :) xx
A bientôt
