No one told him yet though, he is running around playing causing trouble but he has loose frequent stools.  Viral maybe?  I dropped off a stool sample to get checked out and waiting for the vet to call.  I did give him some white rice.  He is peeing and pooping all over my house.  He was basically housebroken till last night when this started.  He seems to pee then spin around and poo every half hour.  We were up all night with him.  But he wants to eat, play and do the usual things. Normally he doesn't care much about eating, but for some reason he keeps begging to eat now.  Scratching on the cabinet.  Do you think he can still have his yogurt with the rice?  I am going to boil him some chicken shortly as well, but worried he might not want his kibble anymore after eating the good stuff!  Is it common for puppies to get stomach bugs?

Have you reently changed his diet or introduced something new.Any new foods should be integrated into his existing diet over a 5 day period to avoid stomach upsets.?
Hi Susan,
How cold is it with you over in the US? He may have stayed too long playing in the snow if you have any at the moment?
Otherwise if he has not got a high temperature I would feed him rice and cooked chicken and see if he improves. Hope he gets better soon!
No new food, same diet, yes it's cold here and we only have him out for bathrooming. He did start puppy class and play group last week, breeder thinks he might have caught a virus. I am waiting for my vet to open shortly, he looks thinner and had the runs every hour to two hours overnight again. We are exhausted! And worried. He still is spunky and playful but is sleeping more than usual. I hope they can figure this out soon.
Oh Susan, you must be tired poor you and Cash. Sounds like a little bug but hope you hear from the vet soon to ease your worry. x
Just returned from the vet. Parvo, Worms and Giardia are all negative. WHEW!
So he is on medication to treat the loose stool for a few days and if not better they want to do full blood panel and xray. I hope this is all it is. He is eating, playing etc. Fingers crossed it is just a puppy virus.
oh good, sounds good news so far especially as he is well in himself.
I thought Giardia, it is good that he is so active though. I always give mine rice with chicken broth until things settle down. There could be something in the food you are feeding him that does not agree with him. Hope things clear up soon.
Susan how is Cash doing?
He is back to himself. He was given something for the stool and it worked. Thanks!
These little boys sure do make us worry and yet they are so sweet and entertaining
Hi Fran
His stool was tested for worms (hook included, whip etc.) and Parvo and Giardia. All clean. We think it was a puppy virus. He is fine now. Thank you all for your ideas. They were spot on in fact with the vet based on what she tested him for. Luckily he is back to normal and doing fine. Growing like a weed. Considering a food change though since he just doesn't seem to enjoy his. He picks at it for a couple hours. When I was using the medicine the vet gave us on his food he was eating it all up and dancing for it. He is on Eukanba and I have never had a dog that really like the taste of it much. Considering trying a bag of Wellness Large Breed puppy today.
Fran,

Don't know how old your pup is my girl is just 16 weeks yesterday and I have over the last week switched her from Iams puppy to Earthborn Adult Vantage. She picked at the Iams and didn't eat good at all but with this new food she eats really well and looks forward to feeding time. Don't know if it will work for you but it has worked wonders for me!
