We basically stationed ourselves at the back door of the house. Our pup stayed in that room when playing and we were outside more than inside and our last dog came to us at 8 weeks and it was march in chicago which means it was so cold and damp ou...
My dog did this as well. He would drag his blanket around then bunch it up to sleep on. He humped it as well! But the only thing he ever humped so it was okay by us. I love hearing that others love their blanket too. He took the throw off the couc...
I only ask to be a friend if I want to communicate privately with that person. I hate to bother the whole group with my woes!
And Pam I am without an irish right now as well. But still lurking here with these lovely people. I have a new one coming...
Hi Susan, I lost my last red dog in 2005, and the previous in 2002 - I still haven't got over either loss. I made the mistake of not getting another Irish straight away because I knew I would never find another "Best Friend" like the ones I had lo...
Dear Susan,
following my reply to you re: the wee discussion (!) I find that you have only recently lost your beloved Dublin. May I offer my sincere condolences. You did the only thing you could do in your situation, and it was the right thing too...
Susan, I am so sorry about your special friend. This part, the dying part, is the most difficult step in having a irish setter child. I am sure Dublin would agree to a puppy that can comfort you in your sorrow and that can be a friend to you. Gree...
Sorry to here you lost dublin, my heart goes out to you .... I lost my old lady in april she was 12yrs 8mth but now with my little one, the pain is slowly easing, for both me and Ruby who lost her mum
Many thanks for your kindness Mel, a painting would be so wonderful. I have found a puppy and we will be getting him mid January. He is only 13 days old right now! As joyous as that is, this gives me some time to deal with the loss for a while mor...
Hi Susan,
I am so sorry for your loss but i think you have done the right thing and with some time you will have less guilt over this issue as the worst thing we could do to our friends is let them suffer. If you feel you need another puppy when ...
We also have found a crate a great safety tool. I would be afraid to leave a teething puppy home without that security. I had a friend years ago who's uncrated lab pup chew thru an electrical cord. They came home to a dead puppy and that has haunt...
I think this was a wonderful tribute to you lovely boy, he was taken far too soon and he will always be missed and ''in your heart'' Good luck in the future to you all
I am a retail merchandiser and worked in the premium dog food market for many years. I adored my dog Dublin, he was 2, and I was thrilled to find an active setter forum. Married, two kids. Dublin has several videos at youtube.
Just search Dublin Irish Setter to find them if you would like to view. Sadly we let Dublin go November 2009. He was an epi dog and the medications used to control the seizures caused too much damage to him.

Hi Susan,
I have just read your update on Dublin....don't give up on him yet....I am thinking of you... has Michelle been in touch with you, I told her about Dublin and she has experiences she can share with you.Kindest regards and hugs from my dogs to you, Dublin and your family.
oh dear susan i am so very very sorry about dublin.hope he can manage the medication ok and they will eventually subside.i can fully understand how you must be feeling these red darlings come into our lives and completely take over our hearts. taers will flow love they still do in our house after 3 years and the upsetting part about your dublin and my layla is that they are only young dogs and "it shouldnt be happening to them"
hope you dont mind if i keep in touch every few weeks to see how you are both doing
love and regards
