Good Morning to our IS

Just wondered how your IS greet you in the morning. Our 2 boys sleep in the breakfast room and it is always a pleasure to see them first thing in the morning. They are usually laying on their beds and the first greeting is 2 tails wagging like mad before they eventually get up, stretch and then start 'talking' with lovely melodic noises. It really starts the day off on a good note.

My girls sleep in my bedroom, wich means I wake up every morning with two red blankets in my bed every morning. They are really lazy, so normally I have time to get up, get dressed and have breakfast before any of them opens an eye.

Eventually when I force them to wake up, Romã will wave her tail and greet me with joy, as if she hasn't seen me in weeks. Pitanga is quite grumpy in the morning and normally it takes 5 or 10 minutes before she fully wakes and greets me. She is very sweet in doing it, and will kiss my hands very gently while waving her tail.

Both of them yawn a lot during the whole process.

My greeting to them is generally with lots of petting and hugging, until they wake up to the new day =)

Talking, yawning and stretching, tiddle in the garden and both sit at the fridge for their breakfast - I know my place !

Miss Molly greets whoever is up first by rolling onto her back for her morning bellyrub...and woe on you if you try to skip over her .  If the other is still in bed they get a nice cuddle and a warm red blanket lying on top of them til they wake up and find they are unable to get out of bed due to being pinned down by Miss Molly. Once she is up and has gotten the sleepyhead up she goes out into the yard but then is back in for more snuggling and petting.  If she is really feeling generous she will share a milk bone with you by hiding it on you ....and you might rate a special toy to play fetch with . She wakes up happy and eager for new adventures to share with us each day.

oberon has his own huge bed in the kitchen (+ he has two beds now, since we had a new sofa in the living room and he inherited the old futon as an extra dog-bed in the living room as well- we keep it, since the hope is to keep him not very interested in the new white sofa;)

he sleeps either in these beds or in our bedroom: in the bedroom he's just lying in the floor, and despite all other places this is where in the end he likes to spend most of the night;)

first thing in the morning we have some paws in our face, at the alarm time.. then he's happy to have another snap, usually on the week end he likes to sleep even till 10-11am or noon.. while in the working day his paws give us the alert around 7am.. nice wellcome before the day starts!

Our three sleep in the kitchen, often two cuddle up together in one bed, when we get up it's a case of wading through a sea of waggy tails and bodies to get to the back door to let them out, a brief reprieve and then they are back in all pressing up against us, trying to wrap themselves around us, and wanting their heads rubbed, Jack will often greet us verbally with lots of "woo woos" and then it's fish sticks and tea all round...well for the dogs that is..just tea for us!!

I gather from reading all these that Cash is quite a normal IS.  He doesn't get up when I do at 5am but takes my spot in the bed and stays asleep for hours.  Mine also isn't really up and around before 11ish.  He will get up to pee, but heads right back to bed.  He isn't ready to really romp and run till late afternoon which is perfect since I work half the day.  I just thought mine was a lazy ass but now I see that he is just like many of your dogs.  Reminds me of teenages in the house.  They never come to life till later in the day either.

I am usually the sleepy one in the house but lately Murph has taken to wakening me ..... First thing I hear is the tail banging then I know he is near ..... he can be ever so gentle with one lick at first but if I dont speak he jumps up lays beside me till I say morning handsome boy then he potters about till I get ready for our morning walk ..... Then we go off on our adventure ....... come back and we both have breakfast ...

My ole boy sleeps in special bed for arthritic dogs across the threshold of my door. Tho' no longer able to jump into bed with me he must see us to fall asleep. Once I get up and move into the breakfast room he comes in to join me. Never wants to be alone.

I have smilers, Fern & Bliss show a full set of teeth but Sky only raises her lip slightly on one side, Promises just wags her tail & James leaps at me. Occasionally Fern & Bliss will greet friends at shows but normally their smiles are reserved for us & any visitors we have at home. Just as well as some silly people have thought they are being aggressive!!!

After having years of sharing my bed with my wife and up to four red furry ones  Joan and I decided a few years ago that we wouldn't allow the dogs upstairs,it coincided with the arrival of a new puppy and the arthritis of our old dog who could no longer manage the stairs....and we have kept to it...blissful nights but I do miss my setter cuddle.

The three I have now sleep in the 'other' living room(we have two) and they have two leather settees with fleecy blankets which they love  .When I get up the welcome varies.Sometimes ,if they are exceedingly comfortable, I get just a wag and a please scratch my tummy from them all.Often Arthur is up and about and leaps at me to give me a lick and a cuddle,Ellie usually rolls over and offers me her tummy,Fred ambles up wagging all over for a fuss.

It is a different matter when we have been out then excited dogs greet us.Fred with his stuffed toy in his mouth,Arthur leaping at us and Ellie patiently waiting to say hello.

Molly sleeps downstairs some of the time except when it gets the better of her and on the bed she comes. Not gently but run jump over the end of the bed. She wakes happy and that tail goes like the clappers (it hurts like a whip).

Cold here at the moment so she sleeps in sometimes. I put her outside for her toilet stop then she is banging on the door to come back inside. Back to bed and sleep sleep. When she first wakes up there is the stretch and the noise that is hard to describe but they all do it.
