Hi, My name is Catherine. I have 2 Irish, 2 English and 1 Gordon Setter. All dogs. My two English Setters are brothers (same litter) and sons of my latest English Setter (died in March) Ulrik. They all have that nice caracter/temperament.
Oops still getting used to this site, the pic below is Rosie, we sadly lost her in Jan 09 and miss her terribly. She was soft, sweet and gently and loved everybody, there could of been a earthquake under her and she still wouldn't of moved. Many a time I've hoovered her up accidentally (especially her tail) haha. xxx
Hi I am Lesley and moved with 3 English Setters from the UK to Australia 18 months ago and have just seen old friends fro Ireland on the wall, hello Olive and Brendan, good to see you doing well. My young boy Caine is an Aus. Champian now but the older two are only shown rarely as the heat is abit much for them. Still they all love the sofa and air-com xxx
Hi, I'm Pat from NZ. As well as my Irish Setters I have 2 English Setters, both bitches - Crystal (Ch Ardross Crystal Rose) & Holly (Shelta Star Dancer) who went BIS at the English Setter Club NZ Championship Show November 2009 under judge Mrs Sue Wilkinson (Hurwyn UK.) I've had both breeds for years now & they are so different, aren't they?
I'm Michele from Germany. I have 2 English Setters 1. Anouk ( Anouk vom Lohnetal) , 2nd Casey ( Aida vom Suttbrock) and one Gordon ( Zora vom Eixelberg).
It's fun to be here! ;O)
Just to let you know my two younger boys, Gil and Caine are now earning their keep by coming to work with me. We have just passed our training and final assesment to become Pet Educators. This is a Vic govt scheme where all pre and primary schools can have visits to teach living safely with dogs and then responsible pet ownership. The dogs can work every other day and just love meeting the children. English are great for this job as so laid back yet friendly at the same time, am truely proud of them.
Update to all of you - I still have my boys plus one crazy weimaraner... Spartan turned 8 in September and James turned 4 in June. They mean the world to me and i can't wait until i can have another one day!
Lets get this group happening people! There is not nearly enough discussion on here!!
I lost my old girl in May this year and even though I've got the two Irish the house wasn't the same without an English so we are now the proud owners of Gemsett Sunburst or OLIVE NO!!! as she is more likely to be called! :)) She is very naughty but wouldn't have expected anything else really, she never stops wagging her tail even when she's being told off for stealing the cheese or whatever else she can get hold of!
I've just joined the group and look forward to 'meeting' other Setter owners. I have two English Setters, Legolas (8) a black and white beastie that likes to act tough but is actually afraid of his own shadow and Theoden (6) a lemon belton and absolute diva that loves the hair drier & knows he's a show dog !
I've just joined the group..I've owned English Setters for over 25 years now, but am sadly down to just the one these days. Henry aka Bournehouse Midnight Quest of Tawnymeade is 19 months old and an absolute joy.
In the last couple of months we have had to say goodbye to Dut Ch Couldoran Temecula, Blue to kidney failure just before his 10th birthday and hello to Aldersett Fields of Gold, my first non pure english lines. Gibbs is half english and half US/Australian lines, have had to go down this path to keep showing over here. Still got Gil and Caine, both Couldoran boys or oversized lap dogs!! Hello Claire and Sheree, are you both in the UK?
Yes Claire and I are in the UK, I'm in Buckinghamshire and Claire is in Essex, we know each other really well, we met through a dog forum and she very kindly took one of my oldies when illness necessitated me rehoming my beloved dogs. Remy has since gone to the bridge but Claire and I have remained good friends.
I also know Angela who bred your boys...I haven't seen her for years as I had to give up showing until recently, but I have always admired her setters, I bet your boys are stunning. Sorry to hear about Temecula, I lost my blue boy Leon, (Valsett breeding) just 6 weeks before his 10th birthday...far too young to go to the bridge :(
Henry thinks he is chihuahua I'm sure, the moment myself or hubby sit down he is on our laps and soon to be heard snoring away lol.
We lost Ruby our 11 year old Irish Setter in Oct 2010 (in pic) and Rosie in Jan 2009 (in pic) Our 151/2 year old Irish Setter who we adopted from Oldies Club when she was 101/2 has been diagnosed with epulis so she's enjoying life with lots of her fave things (food, food and more food).
We adopted a 9 month old English Setter called Grace in Feb 2010, you could see every bone in her body but she's 20 month old now and a juvenile delinquent. I've had setters for 25 years and never had one with so many doggie asbo's, haha.
Oh, and not forgetting our little Lindy, she's not a Setter but a lovely Sheltie who I took on when her elderly owner passed away. I used to walk her, vet, groomers etc for the lady and she asked me would I look after her if anything happened as her family hated dogs. Never regretted it for a minute, she's a babe. xx
She is beautiful...I had a Gracie, she was orange too...mother of Gideon and Ebony..oh the memories. Marions Gracie looks like butter wouldn't melt eh? xx
We have 2 Irish and 1 English ( Caline) who seems to get into most of our latest baby's photos ! Take a look ...
Actually Caline was a fabulous mother-figure whilst Zoe was a baby ... she obviously has a strong maternal instinct and used to put up with the continual biting of her ears, throat & tail which our other Irish just couldn't tolerate !
Sorry, there is also Gr Ch Bridgewood Front Page News, AJ, showing at the moment in Victoria but has shown in NZ I am told, he was made up at the end of last year. Just got BOB at Sydney Royal.
