Two again. Darwin (17/10/2004) and Mac (born 1/6/11).
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
Since 1996
About Me:
My love story with Irish setters started in 1996 with the most wonderful IS ever - MC, a field trial with Monroad ancestors. I was so lucky to have this very special and clever boy!!! Unfortunately, I lost him in May 2010, a couple of days short before his 14th birthday.
In between, in January 2005 came very handsome Darwin, the sweetest nature possible, Irish born with Thendara gd-parents. Recently we had a new addition to the family, Mac (the holy terror), born the 1/6/2011 from Sumaric Mr. Jingles and Thendara Vanilla Ice.
Love your photos Chantal, I gotta get on to putting some of Dillon on!! but I'm new to computing so it's going to be fun, but at least I have worked out how to view everyone elses, so that's great.Cheers Jan x
Happy New Year to you.Must put a photo of Rudy my Gordon Setter up.Your setter is a beauty. What is he called. We were thinking of a second setter and my husband wants an Irish.Looking at these pictures I can see why! He's a noble fellow indeed!
Chantal...thankyou for the welcome! Enjoy your puppy.....he is darling and I bet he keeps you busy with all his antics! Looking at your pictures of him just reminds me so much of all my Irish boys.....what rascals they could be but also ohhh so sweet! Bet I could scare a few non owners away with some of my wilder moments with my boys!!! :) I will download a picture of Miss Molly as soon as I can figure out how to do it. Miss Molly has just been a joy to us....we never thought we would own another Irish Setter as well behaved as our first male, Shilo, but she is sure giving him a run for that title. We worked with her a lot the first months as we believe she had been kept outside so a house was just a new adventure to her...plus she needed basic training but she is such a quick study that she soon had free run here. One thought I do have about Miss Molly and our first Shilo is that neither of them had to compete with children in our home so perhaps that is why they settled down so quickly. Thankyou again for the welcome.
Chantal thank you fo the beautiful comments about my girls.....yes Holly has me hooked and Cassie and Holly are indeed the perfect duo and accomplices !!!!!
Thanks Chantal, Our beautiful boy Clyde was nearly 14 years old when we had to say goodbye to him on new years eve. We are having so much trouble coming to terms of losing him, and we have to wait for awhile for a new boy to come back to us. Clyde was our third irish setter we have owned we had two beautiful girls before him, Thankyou for adding me as a friend and your children are beautiful too. Gail ;)
She's fine. But still sorrowing at feeding. I began to add to her diet a bit of dry food. I'm consistent - no cheese, sausage, cake etc. as treats, only boiled chicken.
Young short hair has shaven her belly, and during rather short walks I let her run free a bit. We have new friend Masza - 9 months old now labrador reminds Kruszyna her youth:-)
Here in Nairobi we're 1795 metres above sea level and have a very pleasant climate - lots of sunshine but not extreme temperatures and humidity like Mombasa and other coastal places. We should have two rainy seasons each year, although the weather nowadays is so unpredictable, and we get occasional showers.
Guinness, our first male Setter whom we inherited, was brought to Kenya from Ireland. Dusty (female) was born here, then we imported a male (Dougal) from England and our current Setter (Zeb) was born here in Nairobi. Unfortunately all the Setters we know in Kenya are related so nobody can breed that's why we're hoping to get a Setter from England this Easter when our daughter comes to visit us. Gillian
for all your nice words about my dogs, photos and cookings;-)
I've read my previous comment - Haha!!!
Of course: new hair has grown on her shaven belly;-). I'm sometimes completely absent minded, I begin some phrase and finish with something different:-)
Greetings and cuddles for your two and four legged boys:-)
Thank you for your kind comments about Beau and my continuing search for Beau. It is great to meet another human friend who understands. Even if I never find Beau I am trying very hard to do something to stop humans from stealing beloved companion animals. Legislation has already been passed which recognise that stealing a companion animal is a criminal offence and legal ownership does not change. Yet, these laws are disregarded in Australia. It has taken me many years but I have finally found a Member of Parliament who is helping me. He is a medical practitioner and not your average MP. He is a kind man and goes out of his way to help as much as he can. As I know you will understand it is a huge battle taking on veterinary associations and government departments but I will continue to fight for Beau and for all the other stolen animals like Beau. I am also trying to complete the writing of a book but day to day life keeps getting in the way. I wish I could find more time.
Best wishes from Susan and her English Setter kids
Many thanks for your lovely message - yes I certainly am very lucky to share my life with so many gorgeous Irish. All very special indeed, and all giving so much pleasure, love and laughter.
Glad you have joined the site. It is amazing how it has brought so many people together from around the world.
Thank you for your lovely comments on my boy's photos! Love yourslideshow of photos.Your puppy's photos are gorgeous! Must say the photos of him on the window ledge are great! I'm sure the scene must have given rise to panic! He looks a character!
Darwin is beautiful...love the puppy pictures and the one where she is standing out of the window! Thankyou for the comment on Molly. I know how hard it is losing one of our best friends and how lost we feel without them. I am glad you have Darwin to help you thru the bad moments. I only have to look at the pictures to know you feel about your Darwin how we do about our Molly.
Thanks for the birthday wishes Chantal. Sorry it has taken a little while to reply...my email is playing up. The fur-kids gave me extra slobbery kisses. Yum!!
Thank you for your lovely comments about my photos. Yes, I seem to communicate with animals better than humans. I feel blessed I live my life with so many beautiful beings. I love them all very dearly, even the wild ones.
Thank you Chantal. I am in New Zealand for work and Tobin is with a friend of mine and 4 of his 4 legged friends. He will give me a big wet kiss when I get back next week. I am sure of it. Thanks for the nice comments on my pictures. :)
Hello Chantal, sorry that I did not reply earlier to say thank you for your birthday wishes but I have a really hard time at the moment so that I rarely visit the ES website and do not write or answer any comments. Thanks for commenting on my blog; I did not know that greyhounds are as aggressive as you described them. Do you think that they would have hurt a puppy? I always thought that puppies have a 'puppy license'.
Give my regards to David who was so kind to read through my daughter's term paper!
Thanks for the welcome. Going to try and take a few more recent photo of Jakers and will upload them soon - if only he would just stand still, he's always too interested in the camera!!!
Nice to see Darwin has found his place in life!! - photo 13, the one on the sofa, love it
My "oldy" has unfortunately passed away Christmas before last but he is with us everyday.
the most stunning dog I ever knew let alone shared my house with (as you know you never really own an Irish) His name was "Tosca" and he like Braemar was one of Clair Prangles dogs.
Thanks for the warm welcome to the group. Dudley is turning 14 in March and women still stop and stare at him! He's a regal tall boy with long ears & tail. Only eyebrows are gray! Stubborn, unpredictable in a fun way & very manipulative when it comes to treats. Well behaved. Understands 30 words. His favorite greeting is a howl (can't really bark) and muzzle of his big head! I hope the pixs came through with my comment?
Many thanks for your birthday message - it was very kind of you. I had a quiet day - working in the morning and then a lovely walk in the sunshine through the forest with Hattie and Poppy our Cocker Spaniel - a little chocolate terror!!!
