Being an illustrator and former Head of Natural History Illustration, I think the artist is reasonably talented but the heads are not that convincing in their accuracy. The one in the foreground may jsut pass for a red and white but I'm not convinced the other one is a setter even a badly drawn one! Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for your input. Setters have certainly changed over the years. Perhaps these are spaniels.

Hi,

I've sent you another 1900's illustration of a setter which I think is clearly recognizable. Note the two are missing the occipital lump.
