Brian oh Brian!!! :-)  honestly this wee girl was so considerate!!!! try to think dogwise, you may have to do some cleaning early morning and I agree with you, not the best birthday present, but it is far better than having to go to the vet later on .... in my book, dogs are always right  :-)  :-) 
Hope your wee Princess is ok after a sleepless night with sticks indigestion....
