Profile Information

How many Irish Setters do you have?
One, Annie
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
32 years
About Me:
Hello,
Annie is our fourth Irish. She seems to use her "nose" more than our other setters. She is interested in birds and loves to dig. Annie hides her favorite bones in the corners of our house and then buries objects outside.

I am not experienced in showing dogs but I might have a friend take Annie to the local dog shows. I am interested in obedience and agility training. Annie for the most part will have a great life traveling with me.

Hunting is fun but the burrs ruin my beautiful coat!

Posted on December 4, 2008 at 6:26pm 4 Comments

I got to go hunting with my Master and didn't find any birds. Actually I didn't know what to do, as I haven't been trained.

I did get into a briar patch and the stickery bush was terribly painful. My Master had to cut the hair on one of my ears so I've lost my beautiful long hair....at least on one ear. The hair under my arm pits had to be cut too. The stickers (burrs) were embedded into my hair, close to the skin. I couldn't sit, I couldn't walk, I couldn't lay down without yelping.… Continue

Summers are Great!

Whew have I been busy! Yesterday my creature took me to be groomed. I don't like it one bit. I tried everything I could to get away. Some tree sap landed on top of my head so I'm missing hair there. My creature put peanut butter on the sap to emulsify it but it just "wore" my hair thin. I've been going to the lake almost every week. I love the walks in the forest, my creature tries to walk 2 miles every day. I stay with ahead of her and dart back and forth, sometimes I get so hot I jump in the… Continue

Swimming in the Summer with Friends

Posted on July 3, 2008 at 11:09am 0 Comments

Exciting happenings in the forest. I get to chase my friend, Porche, a Drauthar. Porche is a hunting dog and she is more disciplined than I am! You can watch the video where I'm chasing her. Also, she is a great swimmer. I WANT to swim but I think I like just wading in the lake just fine! I wake up early to play with my friend every day that I am camping! My creature has to tie me to the bed so I don't wake every one else up.

I've discovered mosquitos, they don't bother me except… Continue

Annie at the Dog Show-June 14th

Posted on June 24, 2008 at 7:33pm 3 Comments

Rooo Rooo,

Gosh it is hot in Idaho now. We've had cold weather all Spring and now the weather is wonderful. I get to see hummingbirds on my deck in the morning and night.

My creature took me to a dog show where there were lots of other dogs. I never saw so many different kinds. One mean dog lunged at me and his creature said it was MY FAULT. He told my creature that I LUNGED at his dog! The nerve! I only wanted to play.

I watched agility and that was wonderful. My… Continue

April in Idaho

Posted on April 13, 2008 at 6:30pm 4 Comments

Yippee! There is hope!

I have found wonderful things to do LIKE DIG, and DIGGGG.....and DIGG some MORE!

I don't really think my master thinks that digging is so cool, especially because I bring in dirt and mud into my palace. Also, my nose gives me away! I have this unmistake-ably BLACK nose and unbeknownst to me it turns BROWN and a dusty brown at that after I've been having fun in the back yard!

I see birds almost every day: Big birds, but mostly small ones. I want to run… Continue

Welcome to the list Judi, please join the Proud to be a American Group. You can get to it by clicking on Groups above.

Loved your pictures. Your Molly reminds me of our families first Irish Setter Brandy who used to go to the river and lake with us and loved to swim and ride in the boat.

I had a Molly who lived to just short of 14 and passed away almost two years ago. I miss her too. Good luck with your new puppy and if you want to share, who are you getting her from?

Loma, Thanks for the invitation! I will join the Proud to be an American Group!

I hoping to visit the puppy before long, if the weather holds out. I will travel to Washington and those roads can be awful in November.

Hello Judi, good luck with the new puppy! I can see you live in the US, but where?
Rechecked the text on "my" page, you know the bit you said was difficult to read on the dark red, it reads ok-ish on my computer, but perhaps it depends on how the computer is callibrated. I shall have a go at taking that red away in that spot...you may not be the only one with problems reading...welcome to this site!

Nice to hear a bit more about you Judi! That is the great thing about this site...it covers almost the whole world. And so, appart from reading about other peoples irish setters, you also find out a bit more about life with dogs in differant places of the world! We have had some quite heated discussions about this! What is the norm in one place certainly is not in another. :-)

Hi Judi, thanks for your comment. You should see my computer with thousands of photos and videos on it :-)
When does you puppy arrive? My little one's name is Dana which is a Celtic name (i call her Danka, this is the diminutive version of it), Dana is the goddess of fertility :-). Just type in 'celtic names' into some search engine and you'll be surprised about the outcome. Good luck!
best wishes, Laura and the girls

I love an Irish Setter. I love their gentleness, I love their "clown" like happiness. My Molly would not want another dog by me, she would come between me and a dog trying to be close to me. She was possessive or maybe I will say protective too!
What a great friend these animals are.
Best wishes, Judi
