Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World
Hi All, Been ages since I was here, need to catch up on the topics and such. Our litter of seven by Carousel's Just for Fun out of Can Ch Palarset's Spring Fling has begun to go to their new homes. We are keeping the pink girl - tentatively her name is Russell's Isobel - not sure yet, call her Belle, or Izzy, or???? Need to live with her awhile longer to see what suits her. My husband Ken is going to co-own her so he got to choose her name. We have one girl left in that litter, she is a delight, slightly straighter in front than the other girls, but not too stright - her TEMPERAMENT is so nice. She WANTS to work, is really biddable and lovely - I jsut could not send her to a home that would not work her somehow. She is really nice. So she shall stay until the right home comes along. You can see them on my new website at www.russellirish.com
Ken is showing his Great Pyrenees this weekend for the first time, we begin the bath today - she is a working guardian dog, so not quite clean enough to show without a bath. I am amazed at how little sticks in her coat though - a good brushing seems to keep her sweet smelling and relatively clean. It illustrates how a correct coat on a coated breed is still suited to working.
We also have EXCITING news! Our girl Can Am Ch Highfeather Raise 'N a Ruckus Can CD FDX Am MH is PREGNANT!!!!!
Raisin was bred to the lovely Am Can Mex Int'l Ch Starbright Marvel Brightstar JH. This is an exciting opportunity for me to breed into the pedigrees of the Brightstar Kennel of Wendy and Matt Czarnecki. Journey was at the field trial trainers in Eastern Washington which made the breeding exceptionally easy to co-ordinate, and Raisin was really well looked after for the short time she was there. I am truly excited about this litter for it combines two dogs with exceptional conformation and good looks who also possess above average field ability and lovely temperaments. Raisin is at the "I cannot possibly eat THAT!" stage, and is feeling a bit morning sick too. Poor thing. We are sooooooo excited about this litter.
My little girl Mary, from the litter I co-bred with Cassie Allen is a gem! At 13 weeks she has already had multiple points on wild quail and is showing a natural retrieve, waterlove, and natural tendency to honour. What more could one ask for in a lovely package with a biddable temperament? Mary is from Cassie's Can Ch Mythodical Russell's Reba (A daughter of my Can Am Ch Murphy and Cassie's FC Rip) and is by Saeterelva's Russell Jh - my Norwegian import. The litter of 16 is looking really nice - all were pointing at eight weeks and we have a few in dual homes and some in lovely family hunting homes. Cassie still has 3 boys looking for homes - placing 16 is like placing two litters isn't it?
That is all for now. I am making plans to attend the ISCA National Field Trial for the first time and excited that hubby Ken is tagging along for moral support! YIPEEE! It is my first time attending the national, I am really excited.
