Obedience competition last night and Vilda (Röde Baronens Glory Days) got her second first prize. 175.5 points of 200 possible and a second place. 2.5 point better than last time and one place higher up, now beaten only by a Briard.
Very difficult conditions with temperatures over 30 degrees and few dogs that mooved more than at snails-pace.
So I was pleased it went so well. :-)

Sorry, Genes comment made me realise that I should have thought about the temperature being in Celsius...it was 31 degrees and that means 87.8 Fahrenheit. Perhaps not too hot for some of you...but a definate turn-off for most dogs (including mine) when it comes to work.

so swedish meat balls are not special enough??? Must be hard to top that!

Yes, that is what I meant. Now if you worked a male you'd easily find another 'maximum reward' which is almost always available (certainly at trials)and does not suffer 'turn-off' by the heat...

Yes swedish meatballs are a great turn-on, but for a change (when they get tired of meatballs) I will also try boiled liver (beware of stink that lingers for days in the house) + boiled chicken-heart and at times raw mince (but thats difficult to keep in your pocket and gets totally under your fingernails).

Vilda is not interested in hens, but that would have done for my last one...difficulty being: How do you carry a chicken around with you and reward the dog with it at a compertition? But she learned the jump and retrieve with the reward of being allowed to gaze at the chickens afterwards. Worked a treat!
