Celebrating a Setter Centennial 2: Hartsbourne History

Many words are written over Hartsbourne and their first breeder mrs Eileen Walker. But not many pictures are published apart from traditionals (shows). Celebrating a Setter Centennial means sharing, so here on request some from around 1950. They were made by a Dutch baroness, visiting the kennels in Foresters, Stanmore Common. Most Irish, nowadays umpteen times in extended pedigrees were pictured like Popsy, Tobias, Masterstroke, Meadowsweet (above), Sweetness and Flame. Last was a legendary shower of hail: small white dots all over a redcoat. Enjoy! (Under: mrs Eileen Walker with pups, 1950)

A Dutch visitor apparently enjoying to be photographed.

Hartsbourne Sweetness, one of the two lucky house-dogs.

Hartsbourne Masterstroke.

If you want to see more - Popsy, Penny, Tobias, Masterstroke and Flame plus the American Hartsbourne Senor of Shadowood- tell it and I'll scan them.

Elke one for as thanks for your hundred points. Its above international Leistungssieger (hunting champion) Bjorn von Eisenhammer judged on conformation in the middle of fields (taken from Pointer und Setter, Georg Keller, Schloss Bleckede a/d Elbe 1964). He was a descendant of Tobias via Raycroft Sandiman - Distel von Krahenberg. Under his relative Brackenfield Barney, meeting Shandon O'Cuchulain still a youngster those times. Enjoy! Carmel you forget the best name Derrycarne Alcoholic!
