Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World
I was watching the news this morning. Something that I don't normally do. There was an article about the Libyan problem...and a couple that had gone out just last year to work..and now they have be repatriated but the Oil company that the husband was working for..
To my shock, I recognised the person that I had sold a puppy to 18 months ago, and what was even worse, is that they were saying that they had left their pet dog behind in Libya....this is I think one of my puppys...
The question that I am putting to all the people here is..
IS THERE ANYONE THAT CAN HELP TO GET THIS DOG OUT OF LIBYA???
They were apparently going to try and go to Tunisia so they could take the dog with them..but had to leave her at ''a vet'' in Libya where there were hundreds of abandoned dogs.
Is there anyone who knows of any way that my puppy can be taken to the Tunisian border, and then repatriated, Please please try, if I hadn't been looking at the news, I would never have known about this...
I know that she is no longer my dog, but I do feel so responsible for her, and thought that her home was here in the UK, I didn't know that she had been taken to such a volatile place...I am worried sick about this, dogs on the whole are not well liked in that part of the world...and I can't get hold of the people that I sold her to...
It is the not knowing that is the difficult part...
So sorry to hear this Dee, couldn't a animal organization do anything for you? Normaly in these situations there is always an organization that helps animals in countries where a war is going on.
Maybe the British embassy knows how to get hold of the owners?
Good luck!!
Dee It's horrible, I can not imagine how your heart must be ! ! !
I hope you find a solution and a happy ending for this poor dog.
Oh how dreadful, and such a shame you can't get hold of the people you sold her to, to check whether she is still over here, I'm assuming they have moved house? Can the Kennel Club help? If you explain the situation, even though they won't give out names and addresses they may well pass on a letter to them on your behalf, that is so long as they have updated their records, of course. Whereabouts in the country did you sell the pup to? I'm just thinking that one of us may live in the same area and be able to make discreet enquiries.
Thinking of you and hope it all sorts itself out.
A quick update...I have been in touch with a friend, who read an article in one of the Dailies and these people DID have to leave their Irish Setter in Libya so I am now convinced that this is definitely my puppy, and I appreciate all the comments..and yes I am frantic. I have left emails at a couple of the organisations that get animals out of war zones, so am waiting for replies to them, I still can't get hold of the owners of the dog, but it seems that he is a Diplomat..I also left a message with the BBC so that the owners could get in touch with me...at this moment in time I am hoping that the morning will bring some kind of reply to my messages, and will try the numbers that Wanda has left me...Thanks for all the support from everyone.
