I THINK THAT ONE OF MY PUPPY'S IS TRAPPED IN LIBYA...CAN ANYONE HELP??? I AM NOW SURE THAT THE DOG LEFT BEHIND IS MY PUPPY

I was watching the news this morning. Something that I don't normally do. There was an article about the Libyan problem...and a couple that had gone out just last year to work..and now they have be repatriated but the Oil company that the husband was working for..

To my shock, I recognised the person that I had sold a puppy to 18 months ago, and what was even worse, is that they were saying that they had left their pet dog behind in Libya....this is I think one of my puppys...

The question that I am putting to all the people here is..

IS THERE ANYONE THAT CAN HELP TO GET THIS DOG OUT OF LIBYA???

They were apparently going to try and go to Tunisia so they could take the dog with them..but had to leave her at ''a vet'' in Libya where there were hundreds of abandoned dogs.

Is there anyone who knows of any way that my puppy can be taken to the Tunisian border, and then repatriated, Please please try, if I hadn't been looking at the news, I would never have known about this...

I know that she is no longer my dog, but I do feel so responsible for her, and thought that her home was here in the UK, I didn't know that she had been taken to such a volatile place...I am worried sick about this, dogs on the whole are not well liked in that part of the world...and I can't get hold of the people that I sold her to...

It is the not knowing that is the difficult part...

That is a such a sad thing, I am so sorry and I feel frustrated that I can't help.I hope that Tally is safe and can be rescued.

Just a quick update, to let you know what I have been doing, and if anyone can help and let me know if I have forgotten something...

I have contacted the BBC to see if they will give the owner my contact details so that she can eventually contact me and let me know what is going on.

I have emailed IFAW and another rescue organisation, and the vets around Tripoli, to see if they actually have her..

I have contacted the papers up here in Scotland, her birth place...I am still waiting for a reply.

I have emailed the vets around Tripoli to see if I can get the one that has her,

I have phoned some of the other newspapers that carried the article in the first place

I have opened all the information that you all have so kindly sent to me and now am trying a different way via the US

It is a waiting game but I will only wait for a few hours before I start all over again. I am going to pester everyone until they take some notice of me.

Thank you all for you wonderful comments and I do hope that you keep it up, at the moment this is all that is keeping me going....THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH

Certainly fearful for all the animals left behind. Trouble in that whole region at present, so a bad state of affairs all round. Good Luck, Dee - very sad.

What a tragedy, my heart goes out to you and to the Irish Setter left behind whether or not she is yours. it is always so dreadful for the animals in these situations, I always feel more for them than the people as they don't have a choice about being there, but somehow when you hear about this happening to an Irish Setter, it seems so much worse.
