If I Didn't Have a Dog

I could walk around the yard barefoot and in safety.

My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.

When the doorbell rang, it wouldn't sound like a kennel and I could get to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.

I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.
I would have money .....and no guilt to go on a real vacation.
I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grand kids through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE.
My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.

My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.

My pockets would not contain things like
poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

I would no longer have to spell the words
B-A-L-L, F-R-I-S-B-E- E, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T,
B-I-K-E, G-O, R-I-D-E

I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.
I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.

I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading 'mud' season.

I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have so many animals?' from people whowill never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.
How EMPTY my life would be!

And what else would you want to do with your money...You would be richer in pocket but poorer in love....

Very vise letter!
What would I do without my dogs?
I would be just an half person.
They always happy to see me,
always loving me no matter what.

I didn't have a dog, I wouldnt know how great it feels if someone loves you just the way I am. I didn't have a dog I would miss all those early morning walks, I would miss cuddling and playing and so much more. Wouldn't change it for the world.

the best things is that i can't even remember what i did BEFORE i had my dogs.... also, some "friends" from earlier times disappeared, but hey, they could not accept my dog-focus, so i can live without them, right?

Laura, you named it!

The so called "friends" who can´t accept my dogs are not real friends!

Good point, I lost few my "friends"who cannot accept one ore two red hairs on theirs clothes, or on theirs floor after our visit. Poor people - westing theirs time on designig theirs flats or buing new trendy clothes, they are not able to lead a real life... enjoing space quiet, fields, forrests and all wild animals findind by our amazing setters.
Isn't wonderful, that their feets and ears smell like dried mushrooms and their coat like a wind? Its a parfumes of a real freedom and I can feel it thanks to them :)

that's all truth! wonderful letter!
I also could say:
...I wouldn't have to say "good morning" every two minutes, when I go for a walk.
...on the vacation, I wouldn't have to throw balls and sticks, during sunbathing on the beach.
...I would have so much space on my computer (without that thousands photos of my dog) :)
and many many things...
life would be completely without sense.

Caroline, yes, i am a real paw and earsmell fan as well! maybe we could make some kind of perfume out of it... and loose even more friends :-))))
some additional things:
- my dad would not comment on the nose prints in the car (but this is fake, he loves my dogs dearly!!)
- i would not be late to every company event, "forced" to go home first and walk the doggies.
- i would not wake up pushed to the wall every morning (please note, i have a king size bed but all 3 of us seem to prefer one side...)
- i could save energy and money by not vacuuming so often.
- i wouldn't have answer to the questions every day: "oh, is it a boy and a girl?", "is it mother and daughter?", "why is one curly, and the other not?", "is this a longhaired hungarian vizsla?", and so on and so on.

..."oh! what a nice cocker spaniel!", "oh mum look! dachshund on a long legs!", "beautiful afgan hound!" and routinely for Conner - "is it princess or prince?", "isn't she beautifu!?!", "what a lovely girl!!!"
