Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World
We went to the vet to pick up Romã, who was very quick to get in the car =)
Now that I have both girls at home, it's going to be much easier to manage all recoveries!
Mother and daugther were so happy to see each other again that it was a shame I did not have my camera to record the moment, it was worth to watch. They are now resting in one of my horse boxes as they are quieter and fresher. I let them out for a short run every now and again as they still need to be as quiet as possible. We are fencing the area with pines, to make sure all animals are kept outside the dangerous area and this will not happen again!
Pitanga now hates me for keeping her quiet all the time - it's been a week since her last free run. She feels fine and wants to play and run, but still can't =(
All goes well, she'll have her running OK on Friday and jumping around with her frisbee will be allowed in two weeks =)
Romã is really skinny and urgently needs to put on weight - she's just skin and bones (3 kg are gone and she was a bit underweight before all this!).
She is not going to be able to eat dry food for quite a long time and there are no decent canned food brands around here, so I'm going to become an expert in turning dry food into a delicious paste =).
There are going to be some permanent damages to her tongue, but she is already fully functional and is expected to improve a bit more - she'll have a funny way to move her tongue, but all things considered, this is good news! We also need to keep an eye on her liver and kidneys for a month or so, just to make sure they stay healthy after the medication, but there is only a tiny, tiny chance there will be any damage (something like 0,01%).
Thanks again for all of your support and kind words, they were very helpful trough all this!
So glad that you have your two girls back home it must have been
a worrying time for you
