With winter approaching, my husband thought it might be time to set up the bird house; he put plenty of branches round the stand for them to sit and for us to take nice photos.

Joy inspected his work,

sniffed where the birds sat and wondered where they have gone! This was on the first day; three days later (as seen in the first photo) the birds did not mind Joy or us anymore and Joy observed to her hearts content.

He also put branches on seperate poles, because birds like to have a place where they can flee to safety; these poles or safety branches have to be no further away than two meters (just in case you want to attract them to your own garden) - and within only a few hours our garden now looks like an outdoors aviary with about a dozen jewels buzzing about.

While taking the photos, Joy had to stay indoors and watch TV.

On Saturday, the sun was out for a few hours and I could just take some first shots of a great tit in beautiful light.

And then it disappeard - the sun not the bird!

The halo behind this blue tit is no photoshop correction but sadly the pole of our garden fence in the background - next time I'll shift over!

I don't think, I have to further introduce the robin.

The photos were stil taken through the window with hight ISO and no flash. We have many rainy days ahead of us now to think about a way to build a camouflage tent or something alike. However, with the nasty cold, I had last week, I did not mind staying indoors and just watching 'TV'.

Super photos! And you must have very clean windows - I fear you'd never take shots like that through OUR windows... they are full of 'wet dog nose' marks!!!

You must spend a splendid time watching birdies through that super clean window, sitting in the warm room :-)
Loved to look at the photos, they are very nice!
