What 'Naughty and Nice' things have you learnt from Setters ?

Having lost our precious Lynwood Poetry in Motion 3 weeks ago I got to thinking what she had taught me in her nearly 15 years of life. Could members add to this list ? If you can, I would love to add your thoughts to a Setter Poem my daughter is writing for me. So far, my thoughts are these: Bonnie taught me that cuddles are precious, day or night, cuddle your loved ones; that Gym membership is not necessary with a Setter; that you should resist growing up, forever, it is more fun that way ; that if you look 'sorry' enough you will be forgiven because you are loved ! That sharing everything is a must, after a walk in the rain especially shaking the water off, wiping the slobber off on Mum's sleeve, and of course sharing the leftover chips and prawn crackers after the takeaway!

Bajka taught me to be patient - her hyperactivity was so huge so I had to become more calm and understanding.

Walking in the rain and frost, lots of adventures, eaten shoes, mobile phones and remotes, new friends, cleaning slobber from walls and ceilings, the most beautiful eyes looking at you with endless love... what a joyfull life!

Sue and Anna. I love your comments. HOW true they are ! Who do I share my food with now? I must find someone! Who is going to introduce me to strangers with the extrovert flamboyance of a Setter? And anyone who has shared the love of their setter has true love planted in their hearts. As for the slobber, how many strangers did I apologise to over time when Bonnie, complete with slime down to her knees, would go to share her 'kisses' with her unsuspecting public !!! The various responses were most telling! Xx

This is true. I love the fact setters have such selective memories! Bonnie was generally well behaved but an opportunist as are most setters I think. She stole a sausage from the table a few days before she passed away! All I could do was laugh. She was blind so must have sniffed it out! I love the stubborn attitude !!! X

That's probably why we love them so much because they're naughty but nice to the very end. I really do feel for you because I know how much I adore mine. She knows I can't resist her and takes full advantage. She by the way cannot resist the kitchen bin (not one of her finer points).

Absolutely, and the recycling possibilities are endless. This morning we had to pick something nasty up off the garage floor that had originated from the compost bin. Remind me again, why do we love these ginger horrors so much? I hope you start to feel better soon.

Oh these pups... our Seamus is just one year old and has already taught us that you should greet everyone with enthusiasm and take every opportunity to run or leap rather than walk :).  He is a joy, but yes, quite stubborn.
