Do your dogs beg when you eat something and do you give in sometimes/often/never?

mine are not allowed to beg. this allows me to take them everywhere i want, to friends, to family gatherings, into restaurants. and they know that the last pieces are always for them, but until time comes, they wait patiently without drooling etc.
I confess, my dogs know when I have food and know that I will usually share or save some for them. However they are generally so laid back about it that they stay snoozing on the couches or in their beds with one eye on me, confident that I will deliver to them. However if we have extremely delicious smelling food (roast dinner, pizza) then a couple will come and sit beside me just so I don't forget, and heaven forbid sometimes drool! Rowena also knows if there are leftovers on the bench and sits in the kitchen with an expectant look on her face, however she would never help herself. They are usually well mannered enough not to bother visitors and will go sit on the couch if asked to do so.
Hi Christine,

First a confession: We spoil our two dogs rotten! However, there is one thing they are not allowed to do, and that's begging at the table.

Our trick: We eat first, and they stay on their mat which is in our dining corner. We tried everything - feeding them before we eat (then they start to beg - no idea why) - eat together with them - even worse.

In our family (or pack) of four - humans eat first - works miracles. No begging, just staying on the mat until we "release" and say "Foody", and then you should see these two little head pop up!

Anyway, that's what works in our family, but each dog is different, I suppose.
