Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

Hi all,
Ollie's 5 and a half months old now, and I've noticed he's got super blonde bits under his tail and around his neck...any ideas if this is a boy thing or if he's growing up?  Eva was solid red the whole time so just wondering what this unusual colouring is about!  All's good in his diet etc, eating no problem, toiletting no bother - grass isn't bleached when he pees which makes me wonder what else might be! Or is it just some dogs have dark hair some have light?

I notice high and low lights in my pups coat. I see lighter (strawberry blondish, not blond) color around his eyes and on his chest. I love the two tones effect it creates. My last setter had that also. I am thinking from looking at so many pictures it is normal.
Don't worry, Nicky! This is absolutely normal....Irish setters come in all different kinds of red....some darker and some lighter. Also the blonde bits will probably darken with age! Have a look at the coats of his parents to get an idea of what he should be like as an adult!
Don't worry, and no, the blond bits are not a boy thing. Our boy is completely red, while the girl has a blonde bum. I love it.
