Exclusively Setters

Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

Went in the shopping centre today and saw 2 Irish Setter puppies, apparently a breeder sold them and gave them papers etc!  And guess what? At the same pet store that Ruby was from!!!

As a matter of principle I never buy in pet shops that sell animals. I know people who have a cocker spaniel from a pet shop. The poor thing is totally disturbed. She keeps to herself, does not greet humans or dogs and is almost autistic.
I don't buy pets from pet shops although I bought my domestic cat from one. He is fine but not dogs. Also how come we see in Sydney so many pups in pet shops. I must admit not all pedigree but some are. I guess they are from unregistered backyard breeders. Terrible situation.
Found out what the breeder's name is, It says the breeder's name is Poppy on the papers, and the Irish pups are boy and girl.. Don't know whether she has a kennel and is a registered breeder or not..
Found this! Must be the same puppies from the pet store! The breeders names are Poppy and Rob, and contact details are here: http://www.pups4sale.com.au/category/661/Irish-Red-Setter-puppies-f...
interesting

The link you provide allows one to contact Poppy and Rob.  I do hope you found the right people as I just sent them a scathing email.  If they ARE the correct people, then I suggest we ALL contact them with our thoughts on this issue.  I wonder if they could be shamed into taking those puppies back and finding them homes in a proper and more humane fashion.  Somehow I doubt it, but worth a try.

It is worth a try
These people sent me an email on my private emails advertising their puppies! I am going to reply and see if I can find out where they got the parents from in the first place.
It is the right people, because the pet store provided my friend with the first name and they told her the name was Poppy, that's what it said on the papers.
Oscar's Law has done many protests, they are the people that want to stop animals being sold in pet stores and also puppy farms.. I really hope they stop the sale of all animals in pet stores and close down puppy farms!
This is so very sad - poor puppies ...
Protesting in front of the stores does work to pressure the potential customers and the owners of the store.  I rarely see pet stores selling puppies around here anymore.  The few that do seem to still make a buck at it.  If people would stop buying that way, they are forced out of business.  And they overcharge for their inferior bred dogs as well.  You can go to a qualified breeder, meet the parents etc. for less money.  Our large pet stores in the US, Petsmart, Petco, Pet Supplies Plus use the space for rescue groups to adopt out cats and dogs.  There are still some small mom and pop stores selling puppies, mixed bred doodles and toy breeds but so few around anymore.  Years ago we bought a very sick dog from a pet store and never again would I do that.  It was when I was very young and didn't know any better.  We had to return him.
