- About Me:
- I'm a small hobby kennel, and don't breed often. Usually to add to my own dogs. I love the conformation ring and enjoy meeting new people.
I had a Irish Setter as a young girl, but my husband and I got our first family Irish in 1972. She was the best. I started showing in obedience and conformation in 1989 and boy have I learned a lot in the past 19 years, and met some of the world's best people.

Abbott & the Gazette
http://www.akc.org/pubs/gazette/ if you go to this website you can see that in the Sept. issue of the AKC Gazette they've done a article on the Irish Setter. My Abbott's brother, Killian is on the front cover , and they put the ocean picture of Abbott in the article with several of Abbott's old war buddies that he used to fight it out with in the show ring. Mi Novia wins another point
Took Mi Novia and her Momma, Angel Baby, to a small show in Prescott, Arizona, USA this past weekend and Angel was reserve winners on Saturday, but Sunday Novia was winners bitch for another point.
Only 12 more points to go.............<grin>

Mi Novia's first points
What a exciting day I had last Sunday, August 25th, in California, USA. My home bred bitch, Western Sun's Mi Novia, Novia to her friends, won her first two points from the Bred By Exhibitor Class. I'm hoping to put all her points on her from the BBE class which is known to be the toughiest class to win from.
I also showed her Momma, Angel at the same show, but in the Open Class. Angel has been sitting at home for the last two years and is just now coming out. What a surprise for he

Where did you get your scarf for the dogs. Scout is drinking alot of water because of the meds he is on and his ears are always wet. I dry them when he comes in the house but, he is trying to sneak in so he does not have to go through having his chin and ears dried

Mary Crumrine said… - Hi Loma, We live in the Maryland area of the States. I have owned four setters in my life, usually one at a time while owning other breeds. I had shown our first dog (a red doberman) in obediendce and my husband fell in love with Golden Retrievers, since that time we have rescued two of them which have shared the home with our setters. The last ten years we also shared our home with a little long hair dachshund.This past summer we lost our 12 1/2 yr Irish and 14 yr dachshund within weeks of each other, this left our 9 yr Golden going down quickly from grief, refusing to eat, etc. I came across Riley in the rescue dogs in Blackburg and we brought him into our home, I have no doubt that he has saved Sasha's life by coming to our home. He is a very fun guy! My first male dog since my doberman 30+ years ago. My setters have always been home pets, no breed showing as they are usually rescued dogs. As a very little girl I fell in love with the Irish, they are truly my heart dogs.
We live back on 18 acres surrounded by trees on the sides of the property and on two sides we have Antietam Creek. The dogs have a 2 acre area enclosed by invisible fencing which they mind well, we also take them on long walks thru the other areas nearly everyday.
