photo M'Eudail Vanilla Sky at the Maribor show by Eva Černohoubova

Last Saturday Pika's daughters M'Eudail Valentine Kiss and our own M'Eudail Vanilla Sky went to a Field Trial for young dogs (all pointing breeds from 9 months - 2 years old). At this trial natural abilities of the dogs are tested - nose, quartering, pointing, basic obedience, gun shyness and contact with the handler. If you want to breed from a Setter in Slovenia this trial is a must.

They both did extremly well and proven their quality getting top marks for their nose and quartering and pointed very well. Sky had the best score of all the dogs entered and Kiss had only 1 point less. If I consider they were only 9 months and 1 week old it makes me even more proud. Next weekend their sister Vana is also going to a FT, the rest of the litter will hopefully follow in the autumn.

Congratulations Alenka.
I'am convinced, like you, that all breeders clubs should impose such a test to all setters for breeding. It's the only way to keep natural abilities in our breed. And it's so nice and beautiful you see your setters running free on field and pointing game.
See you soon and good luck with Vana !

Well done with your Irish - the photo shows an alert dog who has not lost that natural hunting ability. Good luck and enjoy!
