How many Irish Setters do you have?
After loosing my beautiful girl Jasmine...(aka Irish Show Champion Caspians Modesty JW) I now only have two Irish again....Kirkavagh Darara At Mayfred (Saffy) and her son Mayfred Mr Magnifico (Findlay) I have now added another wonderful baby to my house, so am back to three...
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
since 1971
About Me:
I am retired and my life revolves around my grandchildren and my dogs. If I am not with one I am with the other. We all like going on country walks, and to the beach, I spend a lot of time traveling to and from shows, both in Scotland/England and Ireland. Saffy and Fin travel to the shows with me, but I only show Fin at the moment, he is doing very nicely for me in his first couple of years in the ring, and is enjoying, (probably too much), his show career. Because he is a very naughty boy at times...But has learned that his 'job' is in the ring. And he loves it..
Just added my new baby girl...Suteresett Mine Mine Mine at Mayfred....she is by Mr Jingles out of Suteresett Black Magic....she is at the moment a typical baby, into everything but she is all Mine.a little treasure. and she has settled into our house as though she has been here forever..

one week ago there was an international show in Warsaw. Newton was second. His next shows will be in august. There are not many shows in July and it is to hot righ now. I think I wouldn't go if there was a show this weekend. Newton is spending all the time at home right now. Today I had to wet him twice to cool him down... Next weekend we are going on vacations so I hope it will be a little bit colder...
How are Fin and girls? I hope you have better weather than we have right now.

  • Catherine Carter

  • Myra Thomas-Rhodes

Hello Dee, Many thanks - yes - home safely to a 'family' who were very pleased to see me!Nice to be loved isn't it!
I had a lovely day at the show, and very pleased to meet some new and old friends.Birmingham was cold, but Perth is worse at the moment, so I shouldn't have complained!
  • Myra Thomas-Rhodes

Don't you believe it Dee! When it rains here, it RAINS!!!! Australia actually has more rainfall than England, it is just that we have ours in three months, whereas you have it throughout the year, so lucky you, everything stays nice and green all year round.
Here in Perth, we also have tremendous frosts, something we had a lot of this Winter. So with below zero temperatures, we do experience the cold, as well as extreme heat. Thank goodness for indoor heating, as well as air conditioning!
  • Susan Stone

    Thanks, Dee:-))
It seems Glen has definitely made his mark: an appearance in the Kennel Gazette is almost like having your photo in 'People' magazine... ;o))
But shame on them for getting the breed wrong (IRWS)
All the best to you and your gang
    Susan
  • Yvonne Wark

Hi Dee we are at Darlington this weekend. A whole different ball game with lots of other sweet puppies so not expecting much but will be good to take part. Are you going?

Hi, had a look at the show results from Alva and think congratulatons are due to you and your boy ....... I missed the show and I am gutted as not only do I think Murphy's dad won best in show his brothers and sister did well too ..... No pictures on the website yet though, hopefully they will come soon ......
  • Delia Bryce

Hi, I am a newbie to the world of Irish Setters but it will come as no surprise to you that I am really taken with Murphy... I had planned to enter him to the Alva show, mainly as I thought we would both enjoy the day out but it didnt work to plan! I have found a class in Broxburn which we will go along to on Tuesday and see how we get on. ( I have never even been to a dog show!)
I am in regular contact with Irene who is great with him so we will see how it goes!
  • Delia Bryce

Hi, Thanks for your kind words........ Who knows how we will do but we've nothing to lose so why not and Murphy is great with other dogs so I am sure he will have a ball even at ringcraft! New adventures to look forward to! You certainly have stunning dogs and I hope all goes well for your girl too .... I wanted an Irish for years and now I have him I do want another too but in a year or so when I am told it will be easier. Already I know what you mean when you say believe we have the best dog as everywhere we go he gets so much attention which helps so much with socialisation too so its a win win win already having him! Thats good enough for me! D
  • Delia Bryce

Many thanks for the offer... Yes you are not far away we are in East Whitburn (I forgot to mention that in a previous reply)........ Anyhow as I said we will see how it goes ....... No two days ever the same with Murphy!
  • Delia Bryce

Hi, atleast one of us will be there .... He is not too well today so we postponed the class, some kind of a record calling in a sicky before even starting. Next week !
  • Sue Randle
