Two again. Darwin (17/10/2004) and Mac (born 1/6/11).
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
Since 1996
About Me:
My love story with Irish setters started in 1996 with the most wonderful IS ever - MC, a field trial with Monroad ancestors. I was so lucky to have this very special and clever boy!!! Unfortunately, I lost him in May 2010, a couple of days short before his 14th birthday.
In between, in January 2005 came very handsome Darwin, the sweetest nature possible, Irish born with Thendara gd-parents. Recently we had a new addition to the family, Mac (the holy terror), born the 1/6/2011 from Sumaric Mr. Jingles and Thendara Vanilla Ice.
Lovely to meet you and your 'family' on Saturday...thanks for the comment on Jas's picture...she did so enjoy herself going round the ring...just a little bit too grey I would think but she was happy...she loves it so much in the ring she changes into a different dog...
He is called Quinn. Our previous setter Conor shared the same line in that Con's father is Quinn's great grandfather (Loughantarve Glenross) and Quinn is a derivation of O'Cuin which means "relative of Con". When we discovered this, that sealed it! Quinn is also our fifth dog. His mum is Mount Shannon, The Magic Flute.
Thanks Chantal;o) Yes this was Cara's debut in the show ring!! I got her back as a 2 year old as her owner Elena had to move to an apartment and they did not allow dogs! And now two and half years later she is still here!! She had her pups in 2010 and just got her full coat back this spring, so decided it was the right time to show her;o))
Hi Chantal...just stopping by to see if the pitter patter of four tiny paws had arrived at your home. How are things going with your planning? We had a great trip and Molly enjoyed her Doggie Day Care Camp....loved playing all day with the other dogs it seems...and swimming but also loved her one on one walks to explore the grounds a lot. Missed her bunches so was eager to see her when we got home....back into her old routines like she was never away! That always amazes me how quickly they adapt to new places and settle back into their old routines like it is nothing to them....don't tell me she did not miss me or I will cry! I just found that Austin is one of the most friendly dog places in the USA...see what happens when you explore? They have parks where there are areas for them to be off lead and to even swim in Austin Lake.....any patio restaurant they are welcome on......plus lots and lots of biking/walking/dog paths to explore. Our hotel even welcomed them.......now to convince Alan that next time Molly can come with us! He says the trip down would be a nightmare as Molly would be wanting to stop to run every two hours! Hope all is well with you all.
Chantal I see you have a new puppy how lovely and exciting but how did you manage to restrict yourself to only taking one puppy you normally want to keep them all :)) have fun with Mac xx
Seamus has arrived. I got him at the end of May and he's kept me pretty busy. He looks like an angel, but has that devilishly mischievous Irish Setter personality.
Having a chuckle here at hearing that Mac is full of the Irish ornery energy!!! Know you are busy just keeping up with him...hope that Darwin is helping you "train" Mac a wee bit by letting him know what is his in your home. I had been thinking of you all and will stop by to check for pictures as I am sure you are having lots of "first" moments in your world. Enjoy Mac and Darwin and it's really only such a small time they are itsy bitsy pups! (my excuse for everything they did that first year or so). Just hoping at this point that Mac is sleeping all night so you both can get some rest before starting another day of puppy chasing.
Thanks Chantal - no party getting too old now - but the girls can share the birthday cake although it has got lemon icing on it so don't know what they will make of that. I'm sure they will cope!
thank you.....yes they did. Baby girl just come in to season for the first time as well so having to keep a very close eye on her and not let her have time on her own with our big boy!
Thanks for the birthday wishes. No party this time although our younger daughter has just brought an individual bithday cake with one candle. At least it helps with global warming not to have one for every year.
Hi Chantal...just stopping by to see how Mac is doing and see he is doing his best to be boss....keeping you on your toes to stay ahead of him it sounds like. So funny how some just settle in like this was always their home ( Molly was like that here with us). Hope Darwin is adjusting to this new Irish who knows it all in his home? So many things I bet are the same but then they each have to find a few tricks or quirks to really drive us crazy for a wee bit. Enjoy...and just remember how you ohhhed and ahhhed over all those baby setter puppies pictures.....this is the other part the pictures never show!! but boy do I wish I was going thru it again here as it is fun to watch them grow up.
Chantal I have been following Mac on David's blog and he is just a heart breaker.....tonight Alan looked at the new pictures and told me that if Mac was closer he might just have to have one like him as he thought him one of the cutest little guys he has seen. I am enjoying hearing of Mac's adventures and can not wait until he is allowed out in public....world look out here comes Mac! keep that camera charged up and off you all go trying to catch up with Mac. Each picture of him is just cuter than the next one and so typical of all my Irish Setter lads.....love that innocent until I am actually physically caught look they give you. Enjoy and lots of hugs to Darwin and Mac from Molly.
Thank you Chantal. I like reading a lot, so the first thing that struck me was the part about favoured books etc. On the other hand our dog inspires me to go out more (apart from running -Akai (our IS) is too young for that) and leave my books for what they are. And I am really enjoying it.
Thanks for your birthday wishes Chantal, and you're right, Leah is making it an extra special day. She has just finished her first season, its such a relief to be able to let her run off lead again.
