Field Training Session for Pointers and Setters

The Southern Pointer Club ran a Field Training Session for Pointers and Setters in Wiltshire, UK, yesterday (Sunday 11th Oct. 2009).

First a very fast Irish Setter

then an experienced Pointer

and finally Roger had a go........

and also Kim....

Partridges were flushed on the day (not by my two!!!). Unfortunately it rained heavily but in the end a most enjoyable day (although very tiring.....we walked for miles in the English rain!!!!)

Back home....and remembering all the day's events!

I bet you had a wonderful day, Catherine - who cares about the weather anyway... It looks as if Roger and Kim did not disgrace themselves and you will be back for more...:-)))
I may go to Reeth next year - are you planning to?

Thank you , Susan! Well they tried which is good enough as they are really beginners! Where is Reeth?

Catherine, have you seen the advert on tv for double glazing, well the man with the Irish accent says he is at the highest pup in britain The Tan Inn, well that is usually the meeting place for the Gordon setter club summer trial and just about 3-4 miles down the road is the town of Reeth (very small a few shops and a couple of nice tea rooms which are good to visit after the Trial). The pointer club have 2 days of trials here.It is about 8miles from Bowes across the Stang a small road linking A66 with Arkengathdale.County North Yorkshire

Hi Catherine,
It was a really enjoyable day yesterday despite the rain and it was good to meet up with you and your two Reds. There were about 20 dogs entered on the day comprising Irish Reds, a Gordon, my boy, Irish Red & White and Pointers.
The KC also put training days on in Surrey I believe as well as up North and I am thinking of going next year. Glad you enjoyed the day yesterday. Ray had three good runs in the morning's training session and then another three really excellent runs in the afternoon. The event ended about 3.30pm.
Looking forward to the next event.

Looks a great way to spend a Sunday - shame about the weather but at least the dogs did not get hot. I wonder what your dog is thinking - last photo - was it about the one that got away?
Did any of your dogs bring home your supper?

No, no Maggie! No supper from yesterday's outing! This was only training ...no birds were shot! We will maybe take them shooting later on in the season if I think they are ready! On the last photo I think Roger is thinking that he did enjoy it all! ( But it is a lot to take in...I have only trained him on his own so far!!!)
