Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World
Our Delightful Bundle of Joy is 10 years old today and as you can see, she's well behaved and settled down by now:
That was last summer in Scotland - for the readers of Gavin Maxwell's book 'Ring of Bright Waters' Camusfearna should be well known and apparently there are still otters there! - although the one above looks more like a sea monster!
But let me start from the beginning: In late spring we went to visit our friends Barbara and Tiny in Vienna:
And because none of us likes hot summers, we went right up to the northern coast of Scotland for the summer holidays:
We still tour with our small VW California camper and Joy has a special place there on the 'sofa':
In autumn, we went to the Engadin, Switzerland, right on the border to Italy and enjoyed a very special autumn with the trees in lovely colours:
We went on to the Dolomites, Italy, for extended walks:
And last but not least a photo of our lovely girl, taken last spring, resting in her raincoat, while we were taking photos of wild orchids - the yellow spots in the background are actually lady slippers!
This year, we have already been to Sicily in Feb and to Sardinia over Easter, but I have to dash to work and if I do not put up that blog now, it will probably be another year... so Happy Birthday, lovely girl; a special treat is waiting for you tonight:-)).
Lovely photos !!! Happy Birthday, Joy !!! :-)
Happy Birthday & Best wishes, Joy!
Happy Birthday sweet Joy!!! Kisses and hugs from Tiny and me!!!
Gratuliere zum Jahrzehnt-Geburi! Das Strandfoto von Schottland ist ja der Brüller- I love it- so speziell und so ein Aufsteller, wünsche euch noch viele solche tolle Momente!!
Happy Birthday lovely Joy! 10 years already! Many more in good health to you!
Hi all,
Thank you so much for the very nice comments and wishes! We do hope, she stays like that: Happy and lively :-))) - although lively has also sometimes a negative side and so it happened that she broke her tail three weeks before her 10th B'day on the island of Sardinia, the day before the night ferry back! I wrapped the tail in for several weeks and it is fine now again, slightly bent to one side but not hanging... Such is life with our Joyful Bundle! Kisses from Joy with a wagging tail again :-))):
Dear Joy, I am very sorry Misty and I missed your 10th Birthday but your Mother knows I've been going through a very tough time since even before the passing of my precious orange belton English Setter boy, Hobson. It is good to see you are lively. Never stop being young. It is not possible for me to visit ES often and to be honest I have become disgusted with human beings. Misty and I love you. Susan xxxx
