Norway 2012

This summer, so they told me, we were to go back to some of the beautiful places in Norway we've seen last year for extended hikes.  I was very much looking forward to this and eagerly helped cleaning their shoes and stretched out my paws because they needed waxing too.  

Forests and paths were once again gorgeous! So were the soft beds:

In Norway, there is also plenty of water everywhere and some places were very idyllic with reflections and small yellow water lilies:

The water itself however is very strange - sometimes it is sweet and tasty and sometimes salty and not nice to drink! So I recommend to you all to taste it first before you clench your thirst!

Here the water was sweet and the lake was really great to have a nice and long splash. I even favoured them with fetching a stick they kind of lost:

This year though, we had very few days like this - up in the mountains, none was stable enough to go hiking: There was snow, rain and floods and they packed their hiking gear in vain! So we enjoyed the rare moments and breathed in the wonderful fresh air - this is elk country btw. - can you smell them?

So - what do you do when you arrive in Oslo in pouring rain and with a bad weather forecast?! First of all, you go out anyway but you drive to an area, where you can at least hope for dry spells - not that I would mind the rain but their camera does and then my story would be at an end - 'Come on Mom, this bridge is quite fun!'.

Then you explore the area: Here we are on the oldest 'road' through the Setersdalen (Seter valley). A huge rock like formation with a steep cliff right down to the river did block the way so they had to go over; quite a construction this is! Now, they built a tunnel...

Then we were looking for tracks. I really like that! This 'footprint' is from and elk and one of my paws would fit in 5-6 times!

We also wondered if Mr. Beaver was at home:

And we discovered things that were not so nice, like this old cart with barrels, which was just left in the forest to rot away:

Last but not least, one of the best things you can always do in all kinds of weather conditions, is beg the cheese from her sandwich and enjoy being spoiled :-):

Like Debbie I was away and almost missed this blog!!! pfff .....
fabulous pictures again Cornelia, what a regal!!! I have been to Norway but looking at your pictures I can see that I have missed a lot :-(  love the one with Joy and her little bit of tongue out, as well as the last one ... super!
