Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

Can you imagine what your life would be like if your Setter had the same life, joy, beauty and loving character? All The good things ou lovely dogs have, except...no naughty behaviours, no prettending my owner is no here, but all the great things that fill us with joy are still there! Wouldn't that be a perfect dog? Well... I have one!

I tend to give a lot of credit to Pitanga because she was such a hand full and has come such a long way...

This week my young girl got hurt and the wound infected, resulting in a really complicated situation. I could not keep both of the with me while romã was so hurt, so Pitanga stayed with my mother and Romã came along with me.

Despite all the pain it causes, she gives me her paw every time I ask so I can clean the wound properly and remove any dead tissue it might have.... Despite she could not walk or run for a week to avoid getting the infection worst, she behaved perfectly inside the house at all times.

I read the discussions that tell "my teenage dog is driving me nuts" and all I can thind is "heh, Pitanga was worst"... Romã is almost 1 year old and has never had a teenage day in her life.... She is a huge puppy that behaves like and adult dog.

This week was a bad week for various reasons... At all times my girls overcame her pain to cheer me up and keep me companied... Yesterday she finally was allowed to go and have a run in one of her and her mums favorite field. I usually go there with them and a friend that has a boxer and a french bulldog and they all play toghether while we sit under a tree. Realising I was alone, she run and sat under the tree, rather than go chasing rabbits, just to make sure I was not alone! After sitting for a bit, I did some rabbit chasing with her, and she looked like the hapiest dog in the World!

I really don't give this girl as much credit as I should, so today I decided to share with the World how wonderfull my little girl is, and how proud I am of her!

Thank you Romã!

Hi Teresa,
How nice to find a fellow Setter owner who feels the same way about their dog(s) as I do about mine. Hope your girl's wound is healing up now and that she can now do all the 'setter' things that we both love and hate at the same time. My boy is exactly like that you described and, like yourself, I tend not to give him credit neither but in the last few years he has more than excelled my expectations and has achieved so much on the 'working' side of the Setter breed.
Keep up the good work and we both wouldn't change our Setters for anything.

That is just wonderful, as well as Pat's comment! What a superb breed we all have.

That was lovely to read and makes the Irish Setter the perfect breed to live with. I adore all my dogs even though their personalities are so different and am told so many times that they are spoiled :). But they give me so much love and joy I think hey why not spoil therm as much as you like.

I do hope Roma is better soon, but what a lovely story of her love for you.
I love my 4 to bits and couldn't imagine life without any of them and they are all so different. The other week I nearly had to have my horse put to sleep, and was crying my eyes out untill my lift arrived to take me to her, Elise (mum to my others) just sat by me, pinned to my side as she always does when I'm upset, Jensen my youngest decided the best way to deal with it was to bark at me, Amber thought I might like to play with a toy instead and Ollie thought it best to stay out the way and go to sleep in a deck chair, they all cheered me up by each doing their own thing, and even when later in the day I knew everything was ok with my horse, Elise still stayed pinned to my side to make sure I was ok. God I love my dogs and they bring me joy everyday :)
