Hi everyone,

Just a quick update on Pitanga, it's been a really long week...

We have found a huge abcess on one of Pitanga's anal glands. It was growing to the inside, so even with regular rectal exams, no one was able to feel it until it was giant! It's still maturing, so a lot of pus will come out, however, we were able to remove about 20 ml of pus  today, and Pitanga was a lot more confortable after that.

This huge abcess explains her high fevers and most of her discomfort. She is still in the hospital and will remain there at least until monday, and we'll see from there - this may very well have started with a grass seed!

Pitanga has asked me to thank you all for your love and cuddles, knowing you were all concerd made her feel loved =)

Great news that you have found the cause and she is on the mend even if slowly. Poor girl it would have been so uncomfortable for her.

Dear Teresa, I have only now read your blogs about Pitanga. I hope she recovers very quickly and she will be back home with you very soon. Hobson and Annie send Pitanga lots of English Setter kisses.

thanks you guys! it seems her fever is now gone for good, but she still needs to get rid of that nasty thing before she comes home - we need to make sure there is not grass seed in there, and if there is, it must come out!

Pitanga is feeling good enough to send lots of love back and thank all her get well messages! =)

So pleased that you found this before it did any more harm....she will feel so much better for having it drained, and when the Anti-biotics kick in she will be like a new dog....and when she finally gets home with you and your family you will see a huge change in her....I am sure that she wants to come home to her family as soon as possible...good luck and again big hugs from Saffy and Fin....XXX
