Our first Irish Setter came as a 6 weeks old puppy in 1976 when I was living at home, her name was Heidi and she was one of those 'mad setters' that everyone talks about, she introduced us to the breed as Mum had Dachshunds for years. We have never been without an Irish since and I now have 5 and Mum who is well into her 80's still has one

Its a real treat to see the photos of setters gone by I have lots but also very fond memories,,Jess was my first girl [1978] she was the runt of the litter and was the grand price of £40,50p all I had in my holiday club,,Oh my such a madam,,,keep on remembering Pat x
My first Irish Setter was Redd Boy of Wendover. I called him Pete, after the poem "Pete the Piddling Pup". I brought him to Training Classes, where I was encouraged to show him. He won several Green Stars, but I retired him from the ring before he won his title, because he lost his confidence after I was attacked by a Kerry Blue at a Show while I was in the ring with him. His best win was Best in Show at the Irish Red Setter Club Championship Show under Miss Sybil Lennox.
He was born on May 25th 1973. His sire was Bagatelle Argot (Sire; Hartsbourne Jeaves) and his dam was Wendover Pixie (Sire; Wendover Gentleman). Pixie was a litter sister to Olwen Hunt's Lovely bitch Sh Ch Sowerhill Red Colleen of Kitewood.
