They all are priceless are they not. Do not know what I would do without mine. Just spent an hour at the dog park with Hawk. There were several dogs there for him to have fun with. Tiz can not go as she is to bossy and will not let anyone play. It is a small park but everyone there has really nice dogs and they usually all get along well.

Thanks for whomever started this group...My partner thought these kinds of discussion groups were corny, well, until she needed help with her beloved puppy. This being her first pet, not to mention that he is an irish setter with exclusive requirements and behaviors but she'd be lost without her TRUE love. Thanks- Exclusively.

Hope everyone is doing well. Started bird training and an obedience class last week. Having fun in both Hawk likes the bird training more as he gets to run and smell good things.

Hawk is having a problem with dry skin. He gets fish oil and olive oil daily but he is still has dry skin on his back. Any ideas?

Hello I am Jo from New Zealand. I very much love all of my setters, 4 Irish and 2 Gordons. This looks like a fun place to share stories.

Hi, I'm Corinna from Germany and I love all my Irish Setters! Five living with me, and about 36 formerly puppies living in their families.

I think Big Red has a lot to answer to...I also got hooked on Irish after seeing that movie....
I am sorry you lost your Scout, its never easy to loose a much loved friend..But Hawk sounds a sweetie...as do your girls....I do not know anyone with Aussies although have seen some doing obedience and some in the show ring

Read the Big Red stories growing up so I always wanted an Irish but did not have the time for one. My first dog as an adult was an Aussie and had four more over the years they are a wonderful breed and very sweet I was lucky and none of mine were hyper they are happy just spending their day with me. When I turned 50 I finally looked into an Irish and after researching breeders in the area I got Scout three years ago. Even though I lost him to illness last year I knew there was no other breed I want in my life at this time. They are so gentle and loving. Not that my Aussies aren't Lady has been my girl since the day she was born (from a litter I breed) I knew she was the one. Tiz was a plain Jane offered to me by a friend and we were partners in agility until three years ago when she retired.

The boys have been so much fun they do not take anything seriously except for birds. Everything has been a game. Even when you are trying to be firm they turn it around. So many times I end up laughing at something when I should be letting them know what they are doing is completly not exceptable.

Kathie Jo

In my experience both breeds are similar in many was just not in looks.
