How many Irish Setters do you have?: seven

How long have you owned Irish Setters?: Since 1996.

About Me:: I am 30 years old and live in Lyons, Colorado, USA. When I was five I took our family's Australian shepherd to kindergarten for show and tell and told them that I was going to show dogs when I "grew up" (and I didn't even really know what a dog show was then!) When I was in elementary school, I always wanted to be able to train a guide dog for my grandmother as she gradually went blind.

I have absolutely adored Irish setters from the time I went to my first dog show when I was thirteen. I finally was able to get my very own show dog when I was nineteen; a very accomplished one at that, and my life has been so richly blessed by sharing it with these amazing red dogs. They are my best friends, heart, soul. I can't imagine living without them, and being able to compete with them in a sport such as conformation is only secondary to the joy they give in the littlest every day happenstance, because of their undying, unconditional love.

Finally taking the time to add a photo of our dear "Sue-Nami" who is finally growing up. She'll never be a BIG girl, but she has she sweetest personality and a ton of heart. Well, I am finally getting around to announcing it here on Exclusively Setters, but my Sandy is now Ch U-Ch Ambition Red White And Blue. She finished with a three point major on at the Evergreen Colorado Kennel Club on September 8, 2007, handled exquisitely by Diana Wilson.

There's nothing like a mother's love is there? How about a grandmother's love? There's nothing like being loved by an Irish setter, that's for sure! So happy to be a part of a community of setter lovers, and setter-loved.
